Think I'm now reasonably relaxed about the short here as I now think it's just games ,rather than knowledge of bad news pending ?

I was thinking about the volatility here and obviously good news would push this on but I’m not sure that will stop the volatility right now as this forum proves there are plenty in that you wouldn’t call long !!!!!
What we need are more holders with sticky fingers which made me think about Chris Bogarts comments about US investors probably would see the value in Burford ??? He mentioned plenty of US institutional investors that by their own rules can’t invest whilst it London based only !!
It would be my guess that he know of a few and may even have been having “ conversation” already !!!
Just digressing whilst we await news !

As to your first point , yes it's probably always a worry trying to sue someone that's insolvent But repsol manages to get 5 billion out of these buggers not that long ago and I'm not so sure they were much better off at the time?

I'm not to bad a poker player actually and I think I've managed to win the odd kitty holding a pair of 2s ... I'm not to sure that claiming to be skint will make us sell ourselves cheap is my point ..Also Burford have the benefit have the advantage of other wins keeping us afloat , it has been 6?years already what's a couple more ?

3stages what I would say is Burford have had plenty of time to weigh up what the settlement should be so given that Chris Bogart only yesterday said the hard part is done ! and he also made it very clear that Burford are not impatient for a result !!! I took it that They are very aware there are probably many ways to that Argentina can pay a healthy settlement , It is a large sum of money but how much debt have GB taken on in the last three months @ wasn't it over £50 billion last month alone ? Granted Argentina are in a mess but I personally think they'll manage myself

Jammy one thing I did like is they seem to attract a lot of Russian related cases and they certainly seem to be topping the "Rich Lists" over here ?
I imagine we have probably funded a few of their cases so I don't think it's a stab in the dark do you ?

No I regularly look at their pages but today I looked as I wondered if they might write a few thoughts on yesterdays webcast ?

I made no secret of the fact I wasn’t a fan (mainly due to his constant 820 soon comments or even one Monday when we were mid 4s it was going to be 6 by the weeks end ????) but as he’s gone now so maybe we can move on ?
I guess the main thing for all here now is it’s pretty obvious that being a Burford Capital shareholder needs patience!!! IMO we will be rewarded ,,,

Iaconic I saw on the Blue board the other day you too are baffled by Gadstones yoyo short tactics ? whilst you're here can I ask do you think it's purely a " scare" tactic ? I'm not worried really as looking at their short history here they have constantly adjusted , it just doesn't add up to keep borrowing then buying at a detrimental price ???

Ok Gtx1 I stand corrected but I have to say not for one minute did I ever believe he was ever going to be here for very long and he previous holdings and posting history suggested it too .. I actually feel as strongly about burford as he suggested he was, but it's unfair on what he would call " inexperienced" investors as they do act on the hype no matter what you say about DYOR .

Ah yes I forgot his comment on a possible takeover ,,
That was probably the only disappointing answer for me , Yes it would be down to shareholders but I personally would have liked to here him say that that he himself would not be voting for it ???

Well as always I feel Mr Bogart came across very well ?
No definitive answers as expected .
1) competition can only be good as we are the market leaders and we are the go to co for the big money cases .
2) we are getting closer to the US listing and the time is down to the auditors putting our accounts in US format ??
3) The Petersen case could still be 1-2 years in the courts depending on appeals but with 9% interest to be added from 2012 that would circa double the payoff .
4) The call ended as he was about to be involved in a call that was about adding another string to our bow??? mmmm
5) Important to have the asset recovery business not least to deter non payers
6) not worried about "hobby" funders entering the market as we have the funds ,they don't
7) he thinks we are cheap (sp)
8) The US listing opens up massive extra demand not least from fund that are not allowed to buy LSE stock
9) don't expect this to ever be a high paying dividend stock as it's better to recycle cash going forward
Probably more I'll check my notes later but all I can say is I wont be selling anytime soon !!!

Yes I was hoping until the one week extension then I’d hoped for news on the VW case so now I guess they will just be humouring us ? No problem with that so not complaint , I’m the patient type but have to say I’d like some really positive stuff in the hope of burying thoughts of muddy waters a bit more as I think it’s still affecting the sp ?
Also it’s frustrating waiting when we know there is so much good new potentially just around the corner ,
I’d like a fair bit of good news out before the listing so we have a high starting point for the Americans to get excited about to push on from !!!
