Had a storm where I am for 1/2 a day last week, it was quite the downpour and was lightning and thunder, had no end of vans at the end of my lane, its single track road and has lots of activity, the engineers working in the box explained to me they was drafted in and staying in a B&B because the rain causes many problems and as the company is short staffed and its also holiday season they are regularly called up to work anywhere in the country, its a voluntary thing and they seemed please as punch to be able to do it, they was approx 250 miles from home. I mentioned about Fibre and they said they had no idea when this area would be done.

Hey, perhaps you took my post to seriously, not to worry. It was more aimed at the obvious disgruntled ex BT staff that try and sell there opinion of what they think the company is doing and going to do. All copper and lead exchange side cabling, redundant trunks and loading coils will be recovered by 2025, the remaining copper distribution network will be replaced by 2033, that is what the current plan is. I imagine that is at least one third or so or a quarter of the network that no longer needs maintaining by 15000 engineers and there 15000 engineering managers that have all now started paying in to a saving scheme for retirement rather than a pension scheme, oh and they have all been TUPED as well, and we all know that means that it will be business as usual and nobody will notice any changes what so ever, well..... at least for a couple of weeks. Being retired I do like to keep up with what BT are really up to, exciting profit making money saving times are ahead. Nobody will like whats going to happen in the next 5 years but things are going to be revolutionary for this company and the UK. Im currently doing the happy clap dance on my dining room table while blowing raspberry's at my framed and signed picture of Gavin P.

I am starting to think there are quite a few BT employees chipping in on this BT Share Chat forum, its remarkable that what they seem to think is going to happen, no doubt based on what they know from information gleaned from their employer's rumour control chief, and what is actually going on and happening in front of their eyes are two very different scenarios. BT have managed to shake off Openreach, and they have shut down the pension, all BT need to do now is get rid of the copper network, pay off their debts. half the network gone by 2025 and the rest by 2033, that's going on right now, and then they can get rid of Openreach as it will be and is cheaper to provide a fibre network using contract labour. Its going to take many years but eventually the new network will become maintained by the government as BT will become a holistic provider without the restraints of a copper USO network, I see BT in the future as a company that employees around 10000 staff, that has no connection to anything copper, co owning the UK fibre network with perhaps two or three other company's, just sub letting space on that fibre network to other company's or middlemen that then sell that to consumers who will then have every aspect of their daily life connected to the network, from flushing your toilet to paging your driverless uber to take you across the road. Its all good in my book and I will have been dead for quite a few years before this happens, but that is what is going on and the ball is already rolling folks, are any of you shareholders aware that every time it rains in this country BT have to send engineers out and pay their hotel bills, they chase the rain clouds around the country and it costs an absolute fortune. Instead of the usual suspects stealing the BT copper you will have armed broadband pirates rocking up demanding a ransom or they will snap that glass fibre tube and shut down towns, industry and government, and if that happens your self stocking fridge wont be able to order your food and you will go hungry. Joshing aside, Im in deeeeep and lonnnng and have been buying plenty for no other reason than I feel good, no spreadsheets or pie charts, I just feel good, and such is my want! . I think this website should have a new sub forum specifically for Disgruntled Ex BT Employees share chat, separate the wheat from the chaff. Have a great weekend everyone.

What is with all this, 1 and 2 and to get my post back, is it just a attention seeker seeking attention, I think a lot of us B.T shareholding adults can work out how to read threads without the need of pushing them to the top for no apparent reason.

Going back to my original question, with respect, it remains well and truly unanswered, it would appear that just like me, many of you also do not appear to have any predictions or any real idea as to how Brexit may or may not affect the BT share price. I thought it was just me, however I can see it appears to be the norm. As or the political arguing, that was not my intention.

Thanks for your replys, as I say not to interested in the politics or what other shares are doing, solely just intrigued as to how and why a no deal Brexit may or may not affect the BT share price, so far we have that Deutsche Telecom are stalling on a possible take over, thanks Velo, any more thoughts?

It would appear that just like Theresa May I have no real idea whats going on with the Brexit, if we do get a no deal Brexit will it effect BT directly or indirectly and if so does anyone now how or what the repercussions may or may not be ?, I have read about aviation, customs, imports, exports, fuel prices, being affected and also heard the no deal Brexit being compared to the Apocalypse for the UK, anybody have any sensible and factual based theory's about it ?, I am specifically asking in relation to the BT share price, not other Brexit issues or company share prices, anybody care to start a debate? I am well and truly out my depth with the Brexit issue, however my only real interest is in relation to the BT share price, anybody.......

Guzbod, I shall be holding for dividend for next two years as Gavpats made it clear it will remain as it is and we can all sleep easy knowing that, however he is now on gardening leave for the foreseeable so not sure anything he has said recently counts anymore, hope the new CEO don't arrive with their panties in a bunch and take it out on us shareholders.

Velo, thanks for your very in depth and informative reply, its very much appreciated, you have convinced me that my own personal decision and opinion of holding and reinvesting the dividend is the correct choice for me at the moment, although I couldn't resist and bought another chunk at £2.03, thanks again. Whats the general opinion at the moment? Buy, Sell, Hold? any thoughts?

Great explanation Velo, put in a way I understand it, however, if I may, you round up by saying "because I see nowt too bad at the moment - just nil growth and a heavy debt" as an outsider looking in I see both these issues as very bad, and you also mention that the pension issue is nothing to be concerned about, my thoughts are that all these bad points are going to be just as bad, possibly worse in 10 years time, what do you think BT's strategy will be to remove the focus from these stale and unrelenting issues?, I say remove the focus because there doesn't appear to be a quick solution to these issues, or is there? The new CEO has his work cut out to say the least.

The BT Logo has been removed from the vans and corporate clothing at a huge expense due to the Ocom forced separation of Openreach from BT, Openreach are now wholly independent {of course they are and Father Christmas is real)) and have there own board, I believe the terminology is that the board of Openreach report to BT and not the other way round. Openreach employees are still paid by BT and are still members of the BT pension scheme. This current set up is not what Ofcom dictated to BT in any way shape or form and is not the full legal separation they wanted, they are not finished with them yet. Its a half way house situation and the change is happening in front of peoples eyes but I don't even think the staff are aware of what is happening as it is being done in plain sight in strange phases, slowly slowly catchy monkey. Things can only get better, onward and upwards, I am in long and going nowhere. Good Luck.

Waiting for the news of the agreed golden handshake, its going to be unbelievable, as a shareholder It will leave a knot in your stomach, you wait, same old story and I knew it was coming, sack as many people as you can after losing track of what the company was supposed to be doing and was designed for, change its direction chasing what was perceived to be easy money, rip it apart and leave someone else to put there spin on it, fist thing the new guy will say is, well I cant be responsible for whats happened before, bla bla bla, and the hamster wheel starts spinning again. Let TV companys be TV companys and let BT concentrate on Telecoms again is what I hope for. Football can **** off as far as I am concerned.

Can you remind again what happened to the SP since the 30th of April at �2.49 to today's price? what do you feel has been the main factor or factors to cause the drop? was it because the chief executive gave a speech or what.

Fans who want to follow all the live broadcast matches for their club may be required to sign up for a third service on top of BT Sport and Sky Sports, that's not good for people that enjoy football is it?. Proves that the strategy is not really a one stop shop for football fans, its a bit of a mess. BT sport seems to be a jack of all trades and a master of none, which is a real shame. Pinning your company hopes on the back of a football game is run of the mill unimaginative stuff, they need to look a little further in to the future I think.
