I wonder if that is the shorters or iqe?

I smell a rat - shorters have burnt their limited stock of gunpowder to sell short. This is in order to drive the price down on the good news in today’s results. This in turn will unsettle the market. What the shorters want is your shares at a low price and an unsettled market is the key. If our sentiment is altered to negative we discount good news and worry more about bad news so it will cost less sold shares to push the market down as buying shares to pull the market up. An unsettled market is asymmetric - sell 100 shares and price goes down 2 p or buy 100 shares and the price goes up only 1p. Don’t let them win - stay positive iqe has been very clever to get to where it is, and it does make money - but it chooses to spend it to buy more capacity to service the massive demand that is ramping now.

It was over the top and then to be shot down. I thought the results were really good - sales above expectations and profit 16 or 18 % up . Best of all is the increase in photonics and the prediction of future growth here. Was it 40 to 60% each year until 2022. Margin here is good and increasing (mid 20s and increasing as efficiencies increase). IP may help us keep ahead of competition for a while. What’s not to like except for the share price reaction.

Almost 1.5 M shares bought in last few hours that represents almost a week of normal trading. Hoping others see what a steady and exciting share this is. I am disappointed price didn’t rise on recent results.

I think this might be used for monitoring blood flow and other wearable health monitoring. This would be good because it transforms the market from a few defence contracts for night vision goggles to mass market applications for watches that monitor health ...

Joseph I think you mean inelastic where small extra demand increases price by a lot.

I can’t confirm anything - but there is a lot of stuff on the internet about after hours trading - less liquidity but is available to institutions since 1999 - it’s on the internet must be true - well maybe - google it you will see.

If I had followed investor chronicles advice I would have sold down near a pound and would have given the shorters their wish - at my expense. Investor chronically bought the short story and together with the ft have underestimated iqe. Iqe is not imagination and have four growth drivers and technology not just interesting to Apple.

But trying to hide. They still have over 9% sold short and will need at some point to buy back. Shares in iqe are very sensitive to large buys and sells. This morning a sale of just 60,000 shares pulled the price down by more than 2%. If I had to buy almost 100 Million shares I would be concerned that the price would rocket. With results and forecasts coming in a few weeks the pressure is on and ..tick tock. I think that if you hold shares in iqe we are in for some exciting times.

I think some short of this share will be shaking now. I’m out of the woods and in the black at last, so am happy and hope the volitility will calm down and this can become a more normal experience. The lows did concern me but the concentrated discussions and exposure given to IQE will in certainly educate people about this company and it’s prospects. That has got to be a good thing.

The institutions bought about £100M at 1.40 and probably did some due diligence and value analysis before. The shorters seem to have sold borrowed shares from above this level. I hope private investors keep hold of their shares for a while longer and take more of the shorters profits away. It isn’t their company and they made profits at our expense and forced IQE to defend itself. Let the shorters shake

Sentiment is changing and becoming more positive for IQE. A few reports referred to on this board this morning give me heart. The shorters need and want your shares. Tiny volumes, a sensitive share price, ready to push up on buys mean the shorters are in a bind. Their relentless selling and smears pushed the price down now the reverse is true. I hope private investors sit on their hands and keep their shares and take the shorters profits away. Let the shorters shake

Good week last week - low volumes - share price squeezing up - I reckon shorters desperate to buy shares - finding it difficult not to push price up - don’t make it easy for them and keep your hands in your pockets and let the shorters shake. This is our company not theirs.

2.5m shares traded and price is squeezing up. I wonder if the shorters plan to buy back a chunk before the weekend. I hope private investors keep both hands in their pockets and let the shorters shake.

Or can’t see how to buy without pushing the price up. The pressure is building.
