If you pull up the share price graph for Sound for the last three months and run your finger along the line it cannot escape your notice that the price is falling. If I held shares here I would sell quickly and recover any profits I had made or stop the losses increasing and live to fight another day. You can always buy back in if the sentiment changes., This is what pj has done with his share sale.

So far more buys than sells - but price has retreated. This is an illiquid market and can be manipulated. They want your shares so in my humble opinion private investors should not sell shares until the market comes to a natural balance and you get the true value for this share. Sit on your hands
“We are working very hard to source and qualify additional foundry capacity in addition to securing more capacity from the existing foundries.” taken directly from Himax technology 1st quarter earnings results issued just now. Looks like demand outstrips demand and the likes of Himax and Lumentum are desperate for wafers. Iqe will benefit from this hopfully margins will increase, production will increase with their new capacity and profits will increase. Looks like the perfect storm and maybe reason iqe shareprice is regaining lost ground
Apple doing well today - in fact most of iqe clients are doing well. I hope and expect iqe to regain most of its losses over the last month. What I find extraordinary is the way the media latches onto an idea and then it becomes almost a fact. Many expected Apple to show it’s iPhonex sales to be terrible because the media said so some even said the iPhonex was going to be shelved. This was far from the truth - in fact more iPhonex were sold in every week since its launch than any other phone - Apple looks to this phone as the future - this 3d sensing is the gateway to so much. We know it works, we know Apple is buying it and now we know the public wants it. I remember only a year ago when doubters said it will never work - who would want it and can we make it. Since then the share price has gone up and down and is roughly where it was then. We are in a much better place now and the future looks even better. Perhaps the share price should reflect this. Personally I think this is cheap up to £2
The new Vw Touareg 2019 model will have see in the dark display showing the road ahead. Is this part of what Nelson describes as mass consumer application for iqe infra red sensitive wafers. Hope so
Just speculation. Yesterday and so far today purchases have been cumulatively larger than sells (at least according to this site) but the share price has retreated since the initial rise upon Apple news. I think the market makers are happy for this to happen because they know there is a seller out there who can cover their books. The rns yesterday showed that an institutional shareholder has reduced their shareholding but through a financial instrument still has voting rights over their previous holding. Does that mean they have lent shares but kept the voting rights?! Maybe they have lent them to the shorters to sell at the shorters discretion. These shenanigans are ultimately damaging to iqe as the market becomes opaque and even on all the good news the price can go down. In turn this unsettles shareholders who don’t know what to believe and make selling attractive. The shorters buy back and make a penny all at the expense of the frightened private investor and iqe. Iqe lose face and their clients factor in a higher risk to do business with this (I don’t believe this bit) flakey business.
With fear. So much good news. If you believed the doomsayers the iPhonex would be toast but instead we now know because the ceo of Apple has told us that it was the best selling phone every week since it went on sale. Further it seems GaN on Silicon is now in production with 3 big customers via MACOM - a new ramp has started for high performance 5g base stations. This is big because wireless is bigger for iqe that photonics
would our wafers be needed for this ? It can easily be fitted to the i watch HTTPS://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20180425005583/en/ams-Introduces-Sensor-Reference-Design-Blood-Pressure
I’m filling my boots at this level. Iqe actually makes money - profits of about 2% - doesn’t sound much but we really haven’t seen the benefit of the production capacity build up and the higher margins so is poised to make a lot more. With a peg of less than one don’t let the doom sayers take your shares. The shorters are back in town.
Sales of loaned shares are increasing short interest and probably triggerering stop losses that in turn push the price further down. I can’t find any new news so will not sell but will wait for the market to come back to level. This share with its prospects and history of profits, sales and innovation in my opinion is cheap
This share gets buffeted around on low volumes and the manipulative musings of a few self interested individuals. We’ve been here before but now we know we are making money and the photonics business is predicted to grow between 40 to 60% every year until 2022.
Their articles about iqe are surprisingly one sided. IC dismisses the photonics bit as untested and leads on the joint ventures stuff which is not material. They could so easily have led on the massive 109% rise of photonics and the 40 to 60% rises forecast for each (yes each) of the next 5 years as demand is greater than capacity. IC even dismisses wireless as diminished - isnt that because capacity was transferred to photonics because margined were higher there. There is so much good news, margins ip 5g Hong Kong ... why concentrate on unusual negatives such as the us tax
