The July SP was imv hopium driven by false expectations of

a construction and housing build (nor price) boom.

That's not going to materialize and tbf the expectation required a huge slug of optimism.

James, while I agree LAB, to this point, has been abysmal,

some tax rises were inevitable.

The Primark UK L4L fall is disturbing.

Bulls could make a case ..this is largely allowed for by recent SP declines, I'm not so sure on that.

The only retailer I'm holding atm is ABF (Primark), who update tomorrow and they may well warn.

ABF also has the grocery, ingredients and sugar business.

IF they report a very disappointing Christmas and NY, the it's

possible the SP may start with a £17.

I often post cautiously, even when long a stock, best not to

fall in love with holdings. Good fortune.

Unlike (I would guess) many who post here Fats can remember the highly acquisitive high flyers of the 1980's and the eventual outcomes.

Highly acquisitive driven growth often ends in disappointment.

And the reason is usually pretty straightforward - it takes an exceptionally talented management team to oversee rapid expansion while maintaining operational controls.

The pace of JD's acquisition driven spree gives pause for thought imv.

Others may see it differently, but to paraphrase Jessie Livermore.. price (the share price) is truth and the rest is noise.

Does not answer the question of why no directors are buying at these 'bargain' levels..

If you look at a chart of the UK 30-yr gilt, that largely 'explains''

the current sector SP falls.

Unfortunately this is now coupled with a rapidly slowing UK economy impacting demand.

Ultimately times will get better, as we know, however the current outlook appears highly unsupportive for the HB's

Currently, and it may change, liquidity is effectively being drained from the economy with borrowing conditions tightening.
