RE: Capturing the essence of what Bushveld is building towards.5 Jun 2021 12:54
@Dougerboy
I used to keep a PI voluntary register of holdings. The last update I did was over 3 years ago in March 2018. The Shares in issue were 907.9m and what I had recorded was
Holding at least % of the shares in issue...
>=1.00% (>9m) 10 PIs holding 153.0m (16.9%)
>=0.50% (>4.5m) 14 PIs holding 86.8m (9.6%)
>=0.25% (>2.2m) 23 PIs holding 69.8m (7.7%)
>=0.10% (>0.9m) 51 PIs holding 71.8m (7.9%)
98 holders holding 381.6m (42%)
Total recorded holders = 179 holding 415.7m (45.8%)
The bigger point (useful to Fortune) was that less than 25 holders gave the critical mass to block a takeover irrespective of anything else. I do wonder whether no TO attempt was made precisely because those that needed to know knew this!
For myself, a lot of the big holders have sold down large chunks, bought back in, traded and why not, we are in this for ourselves first, so whilst there are holders holding over 1% of the company, I bet a bit less, and over 0.5% less as well. But there are a much larger group of holders in 50-2/300k share range now and this has added to the liquidity. There is the occasional 'it is very illiquid', well I have pointed out recently, the liquidity on a daily basis is better than the most traded stock on Main board
I don't have sell down strategy, I have several possibilities, and what I do will depend on the market timing and what I need at the time as much as anything. But will be slowly selling down as the price rises, not least to realise some of the gains and also to diversify and pay for my (early) retirement. This does not mean I won't hold at least 100's of 1000's of shares for a very long time - I see long term substantial dividends in the fullness of time.
Please don't think this explains the 'big seller myth' - I don't subscribe to that at all. Most of the large holder sells were at SP's a lot higher IMO and many have bought back in (especially down at 12p).... the story is just not clear enough for most to grasp. Just look at the questions regularly on here. Contrast to say FAR: we have oodles of vanadium, it will essentially be free as it will be a by-product of other 'stuff' ... and we have a big-wig join the board .... a clear message (even though my personal view is it is cobblers)
When Vertical Integration is an actual reality, when there are real models worked through and numbers, then, and only then, will a much wider set of lazy investors take notice
Have a nice w/e all ... it is all coming soon and will (IMO) start to really show in H2 and then all click into place in 2022
