As usual, a good clear forensic analysis by BBN.

For me it seemed obvious last year when Ramaphosa and FM seemed to regularly meet, that BE would be a significant player in the Eskom Storage arena. Ramaphosa has ties with China and has visited (if memory serves), and with a massive untapped Vanadium reserve that China will need to call on, some sort of tie up seems innevitable.

I rather suspect when the criteria was drawn up (a long while back) it was done with enough time and clarity for FM to put the right partners together.

As I said, if Ramaphosa is serious about an African (SA led) Renewable revolution, then he had better put some orders where his aspiration is, and that is the one home company that can create a lot of SA jobs and pay a lot of SA taxes.

So a great observation by BBN, but changes nothing as far as I see it

We have been in a trading range of about 11.3 to 14.5 since April. In the background there has been this large sell and we have no idea if that will continue.

Until/unless something significant happens with Eskom, or the seller has finished, then I don't see us leaving this trading range soon. Always the possibility of a slightly wider range, but as we are now at the bottom of the range, I think we should expect a few days of gentle rise to sucker punch the unwary while a few shorts get set up.

As so many point out .. just relax.

I would like a decent re-rate, but happy to wait, although a significant spike would be great to help Pdub (very sorry you are where you are chap)

well @aisee ... if your investment time horizon is a few months, even a year or so... then perhaps not. Andy whilst I do plan to sell down a fair amount when my target range is met, my horizon for this stock (and indeed all stocks) is years !

They cannot extend and have sufficient time for due diligence. The World Bank deadline is the end of the year (with the exception of some agreed 21st Jan 21).

These organisations have had over a year to really prepare.

As for Bushveld getting orders, I think it would be improbable to say the least that a decent chunk does not come our way - the Bushveld proposal (we believe) has by some way the highest local content and local job creation. If the SA government are serious about SA leading new sunrise storage technology then they had better put the world banks money where their aspiration is.

not got time to look .. but in past RNS's somewhere .. think it is the back end of Oct, but it is the 10-previous days average that sets the price.

The general market is very red with lots of companies 5%+ down .... I do wonder whether the MM's know GS are still selling down and doing a grab

I surmise he did not want to or was not allowed (by various rules).... so your 'would it not be a great idea ...' my guess was already thought of and discounted

If FM wanted to do this (and I cannot think he was unaware of GS selling down), then an orderly transfer could have been arranged ... don't you think ?

As for whether the company is allowed to do this I don't know (not a market nuance fiend), but if Bushy agreed a large transfer to treasury with a view to re-issue or moving, then a couple of things come to mind, both centred around apparent or inadvertent manipulation.

In any case, if this could be done then I for one feel FM would have made approaches to GS

But investment groups seek aggregate profit. Taking a large loss on one investment can be of material benefit depending on taxation rules.

The profit or loss of one particular investment is not the primary goal .... Unless that is the only investment you have

not sure we can say that @jog .... selling at a loss and then buying back in (JSE listing ?) might well have some gain and tax advantages.

I wonder who the buyer has been ? .. big pile waiting for JSE transfer ?
