Sure, things will get better, and investments will restart - however with VLS on the continual breadline and the extremely remote chance of any cheques being written anytime soon, I don't see a bright near term future for the company. imho, of course.

Turdgarter: Both BA and IAG shareholders will not support speculative investments in UNPROVEN technology, whilst their respective staff are being furloughed/laid off and hemorrhaging cash. Short term is the timescales we are talking about for VLS development funding and short term timescales are what is being assessed to minimize company IAG/Shell damage.
Achieving PP, which will happen soon, has been delayed so much that it’s now an unfortunate collateral damage victim of the challenging time in which we currently live.

So without development funding (which will also cover G&A), how exactly will VLS bridge the gap that has now been considerably widened due to COVID19?
To clarify, the position I’ve always stated regarding BA and Shell project funding was in the context of project capital - you know, the serious money.

What we are talking about here was the few million that BA may have put in to match the 2nd round F4C money. I doubt this will happen now unfortunately.

Im not sure about that. I think this recent stock recover is a dead cat. Many economies (apart from China) , will be in a certain amount of recession for a while. As airlines and O&G have been hit hard, how this will affect companies like VLS will remain to be seen. In my opinion, Shell and BA wont be putting any more money into this project for the foreseeable future - if you were IAG CEO and almost all of your planes were empty, many of your staff are furloughed (for now) and no real plan of when things will recover, I wouldnt be putting money into speculative projects. Id be putting it into areas that underpin the short term recovery of the business. Should things bounce back quickly, then such investments might creep back onot the radar, but in the short term, these project are waaaay down the list of priorities.

PR of course. It’s an easy win for Shell. They get PR off the back of BA’s efforts. BA did the with Solema back in the day and that was laughed at by the waste industry as their process was unproven. Guess what, Velocys was involved in that too.
The only reason Shell are in this with Velocys is because BP are in with Fulchrum in the US. VLS have not proved any of this at any scale and no bank will ever finance it. Fulcrum, who appear to have been at this for years, have managed to finance their plant, probably due to their clear ability to attract high end investors - something which VLS haS never been able to do. Why is that?
Enerkem are the same again.
PP for Immingham will be a good milestone for VLS, and provide a nice boost for the SP. But, that’ll be the easiest part of the project to pull off, the next steps being drawn out and very expensive and not based on any proven testing.

Even having BA and Shell as 'partners' does not appear to have enabled them to find capital unlike Enerkem.

If you honestly think VLS should get a mention in this tectonic level announcement from Shell, then you're more deluded than i thought. Shell barely mentions the VLS project in dedicated waste to fuel announcements...

Thurgarton , they may well be funding the PP, but we are talking big picture here. Real money. Shell made 3b in profit last year. They put in 1.4m to this punt. That about an hours worth of profit for Shell.

It’s just that - a punt. Pocket change that they expect to lose.. That’s as much as they are prepared to pump in and will be for the foreseeable future. Two of the biggest players wiring Cheques that resemble rounding errors on their respective P&L’s.

Meanwhile others in this space are getting 100’s of millions of investor money. To quote loosely, “why is that?”

That thread is about the UK project and it’s associated site. I stand by my comments about the ability to finance that project. If that makes or breaks the viably of VLS as a company then so be it.

At which point in this thread regarding the SBA loan did i say the business was not viable?? All I did was question the eligibility for VLS, as its not revenue making. I subsequently posted that start ups now qualify after an amendment to the policy.

I looked into this further. Start ups (aka, non revenue comps) are eligible following a recent review of the support mechanisms. The loans are to keep people in work, rather than business afloat per se

OK, you're probably expecting this from me, but why is VLS eligible for support? Its a non-revenue making company that does not (currently) rely on income from customers or trade, to pay its staff.

As stated prior, PP will happen and we're on the home straight toward getting it.
The only thing that remains is the concept of diluting the effluent with the nearby gas/incinerator plant. It looks to me that the MMO have missed the concept of using existing infrastructure to emit the effluent and assume that there are additional works required. There will be works, but they'll be land-side only.
Above that it remains to be seen if NE actually agree with the principles of diluting, rather than fully treating at the plant and subsequently, if the Council agrees.

Isn’t this this a public forum and one that entitles everyone to their own opinions ? The issues I raise, particularly around lack of commercial testing and the challenges around financing are both fact and reality. It’s you that has an issue with it.. This board would be dull without our respective exchanges and such exchanges give others a chance to form their own opinions.
You, or Investmistress, do not need to read my comments, or indeed respond to them. I will however to continue to post my opinions and look forward to when all of my forecasts become present day reality (like a number of them have already.)
