Interest seriously picking up as US markets set to open.

My read of it is that they don't think they are receiving fair value for either asset base (North American or rest of world) as these risk profiles appeal to different investor types. So they think they will get a higher multiple (on their North American assets) and better overall value if they de-couple. The split will also make a potential merger with Newmont much cleaner / easier. I don't think it's driven by nationalisation risk in emerging markets, though this is always something to be wary of.

Yeh, can't really fathom the seller(s). Commodities super-cycle, Neodymium prices going through the roof, governments throwing money at the sector, company going from strength to strength, massive pipeline of news. But I'm confident that we'll re-rate to a SP that starts with a £ over the next few months.

Great posting over the weekend and fantastic news on USAR, which felt like it was coming given the run up in their pricing recently. Not much more to add other than that this feels like the start of the re-rate to higher levels from here, much like we had last year. Now just for some company specific news and we can really get the party started!

I don't know about the recycling bit SIT, but I know not a lot of silver is recycled.

On the silver miner performance, silver the metal has pretty much trebled since August, so that needs to be borne in mind too. Did he "beat the benchmark" as he likes to say? I don't have the exact stats, but of the silver miners investments I made in August, most have trebled or quadrupled, one has nearly quintupled.

The MM's were obviously listening to me and raised the bid to 53p four minutes before close, that was nice of them... We also had a nice 50k buy a couple of minutes later.

SIT, I do follow Clive, and he's a very nice chap indeed. But I think I've done a bit more research on US and Canadian silver miners than he has, from the sounds of it, so I don't necessarily follow his tips. He's a great generalist investor and has good knowledge on gold / silver and miners, but he's not a specialist that focuses on miners full time like some others I follow.

I invested some of my nephew's Junior ISA in the Global X Silver miner two weeks ago as a safer way of playing the miners and he is up over 30%. My silver plays are all US / Canadian, where I think most of the generalist money is coming from. I've seen a few interviews with Rob McEwen, he certainly seems like he knows how to be successful, so you've done well there. My favourite is Aya Gold and Silver, which has taken off today, but is still very under priced imo compared to other miners due to big short positions (not advice!).

Gold only $15 away now, this looks inevitable. Pity about £7, but will not matter a jot if / when we gap up on Monday.

I'd say it's more that silver is priced off gold rather than the other way around. In recent decades $65 or so has been seen as an approximate equilibrium but in bull markets the ratio has got down to the 30's and 20's. For most of history the ratio was under 20:1. I still think we get $8,000 btw, in the next 1-3 years.

With the buying we've had today, I think a jump in the bid in the run in to close would be only fair.

Gold only $25 away from $5,000 now, surely a close above £7 isn't too much to ask...? Can't blame the MM's anymore either!

Haha, amen to that! Watched the chart live when it breached. It was quite the mini battle, with four separate attempts to breach $100, but there was no doubt as to the eventual winner. What a year 2026 is already proving to be for PM's and we're only 23 days in...

100k bidder wasn't here today for the first time this week. Maybe he takes Friday's off...

On the subject of 100s, spot silver just took out $100, only three months after it took out the previous ATH of $50 and broke above this level after a 45 year cup and handle pattern. My happy Friday face is well and truly on show. Just need Mkango to play ball now...

$100 silver hit!! That was quite the rear-guard action from the shorts, but $100 taken out. Historic day for PM's and likely to get a lot of news and attract a lot of eyeballs to the sector.

Element, from the looks of my US and Canadian holdings, that capital rotation you mentioned earlier is continuing apace today.
