I struggle to see it as anything but positive. They are clearly still testing the marketing mix in U.K. second wave of that recently. It can easily take a year to figure this out. But it means they will get going much quicker in the other markets mentioned.
It also means that the sales volume we see at year end is effectively 6 months of U.K. sales. Even if they don’t split out, Belgium is tiny. So we will get a great marker for a big market.
Good work LW
Like me, you might also like to download a freely available Chat AI app and start asking questions about Bluejay. Some are - especially if they charge- rengfenced to rebuff questions in relation to listed companies. Others are not. Uncanny what the returns tonyourvquestionscate. Go learn. It’s more interesting than a spell checker for sure.
Ah, farewell for now Ashbot. I for one will miss those long, but extremely precise regurgitations of others posts and RNS. Always uncannily correct with rarely a spelling or grammatical error. Well done.
As for the wood and the trees. Surely for the market to achieve an efficient outcome, we need a diverse set of investors who invest independently of each other? I think so, don’t you?
Let’s hope the Anglo come out of the woods pronto.
I’m having a slow day, so finally:
Rod is picking up A$250k per year as of Aug 23 from Whitecliff. He doesn’t need any JAY salary and I am sure he won’t take one.
https://www.listcorp.com/asx/wcn/white-cliff-minerals-limited/news/appointment-of-roderick-mcillree-as-executive-chairman-2907150.html
and finally, the best advert for erectile dysfunction remedy that i have ever seen was on the little flyover leaving melbourne airport just before joining the freeway. giant billboard promising ‘stronga, longa, donga’. only in oz. i nearly ****ed myself in the taxi.
Ok, so global revenue is £10.5 billion in 2022. 16% profit I think. Just over quarter is oral health for example. So let’s say £250 million income from Sendodyne! Take off profit and we have costs of 200 million. Around half is marketing / promotion and rest is production and distribution costs. So c£100m globally on toothpaste ads.
I dearly hope that they put 10-20 behind year one in US. US market is perfect for regionally testing to get their mix right. I would pilot in half a dozen states. Competition mix is same everywhere.
If we go with 7k in month from Amazon (anyone see it higher?) 100 a day in Boots on line and (total guess) double that in stores we get to c16k boxes. Call it 20k for other outlets. Or double it. Let’s say 50k in a month. I have no idea what ratio of online to stores to use.
£5 per pack to us. Boots get £10. Coopers get £10.
So I’m getting only £250k revenue to us in a busy month. Less for this campaign. 500 to Coopers won’t pay for the ad spend.
The big BUT with this product is that if it works for an individual you don’t ever need to advertise to them again. Ever. Not like beer, or cereal or washing powder.
Assuming it works, the ad challenge is all about reach .. which you will never get from a cheap and low ratings TV. But they know that and are testing. Haleon will have some of the best mass reach marketing teams in US (in house). Coopers ? Don’t know but there are a lot of agencies involved with that campaign. I will check out the U.K. team. Haleon will also get best rates going for Tv and digital .., I will see if I can find their US ad spend across all brands.
So, we now know the minimum spend from the entry requirements for the Citeline marketing award. Text below…
This Award is designed for big-budget OTC brands which have been supported by a total marketing spend – both above-the-line and below-the – line – exceeding £0.5 million between August 2022 – August 2023. Your entry can be for the umbrella OTC brand or for a product/sub – brand of the umbrella OTC brand.
So Amazon is now up to 3k+ in last month. Not up to 7k at launch but above the 1k it got to a few months back.
Why? Advertising. No silver bullet here. If you use Google Trends and put in Eroxon as a search and viagra to compare, amazingly Eroxon punches above in summer launch. Recent peak good too.
Clearly Coopers are testing the best ATL/digital marketing strategy in U.K. and I guess a more digital approach in Belgium. Keeping their powder dry in big markets of France and Germany. It’s normal for a European launch. I don’t know what they have spent in U.K. but I can hazard a guess if I can find the TV stations they are on
If someone can explain how I post a picture I will add the Google Trends for U.K. Eroxon v Viagra. Interesting

So £5m to (perhaps) use a sub optimal technique and fail to drill in all but one location.
This is where the rot set in. They clearly sat on the results as it was a full year later before these were released though I am sure RE knew the gist of it by his ‘strategic review’ at start of his tenure.
Meanwhile Rod joins and leaves UFO handing over to Troy there rather rapidly without doing much. Meanwhile his acquisition vehicle (More Acquisitions) spectacularly fails in its first acquisition and a fellow board member tries to oust him.
If I was K I would be looking at this very carefully and drawing the inevitable conclusions about the Bluejay circus.
I’m so down on this.
Are there any geologists on the forum who can pick up on John Meyers key point regarding Dundas estimate, which was why they didn’t use sonic drilling? My understanding is that this is far better for mineral sands albeit a bit more expensive. It’s odd. Is there also a clear explanation of why they failed to do all the follow up that was intended. I know this is inconsequential to the current dilemma.. but I am genuinely interested in the answer.
