An article on the front page of the Sunday Telegraph today titled 'Use of AI in NHS, or find 600,000 more staff'

Interesting paragraph from it:

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph he (Prof Ian Cumming, chief executive of Health Education England) said the NHS needed radical change if it were to keep pace with demand. It would need to increase the workforce by 50 per cent in a decade, unless action was taken to embrace technology and stem the growing burden of diseases caused by diet and alcohol he said. "We need to expand the use of technology - the role of AI in examining X-rays, MRI and CAT scans, for example", he added. "When we get to the stage that AI is better than humans, that can take pressure off hard-pressed radiologists and improve productivity."

Slightly messy English only Shaz. Mobius used the past tense to indicate web site work completion not because Feedback had stopped their technological work.

Previous sentence puts the right emphasis on it.

Well, this is just puzzling. I've looked at the Case Study page on the Mobius Media site and they are saying the deadline was "incredibly tight due to an upcoming event Feedback medical had arranged which included showcasing the new site to investors."

And yet, here we are still waiting for the web site to go live. Also, for some reason, the Mobius link appears not to be accepted by LSE. For my own curiosity, I'm going to try and post the same link below. Fingers crossed.

Of course Feedback have competitors in the field of textural analysis, they've been there for years now. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

I have researched 27 competitors to TexRAD in the field of textural analysis and, do you know what, not a single one of them even suggests, let alone attempts to prove, that their product can detect and measure tumour complexity beyond that which is readily visible to the naked eye. Only TexRAD can make that claim. It is their unique selling point.

TexRAD have the patents on their technology and a whole bunch of research papers from clinicians worldwide that state that TexRAD had been of significant value to their research.

Are you sure about that? Your supposition that the results will be released in November is merely an extrapolation of some past events. As we know, a large portion of the old board has gone and the new board may have other ideas about the release date of the full year results. Also, you haven't taken into account that 2018 is an even numbered year and the results have always been released in October in even numbered years.

Still, good to see you are excited enough to want the results ASAP. Never forget though that you will be looking at historical figures in the report when one exciting RNS (Siemens or the NHS would be my guess) could make what you see there almost completely meaningless.

Thanks to funding from LNWH Charitable Funds researchers at Northwick Park Hospital have been able to purchase software, known as TexRAD, to assist with the imaging of urogenital (renal, bladder and prostate) tumours.

Currently, doctors rely on medical imaging, such as MRI, CT and PET to make decisions on patient care and treatment, but these are limited to what can be seen by the human eye.

The new software detects and measures ‘tumour complexity’ in medical images and reveals more information than is readily visible to the naked eye, meaning cancer treatments can be better tailored to the needs of the patient.

The software is being used to support a research project, entitled ‘Investigation of tumour heterogeneity as a predictive and prognostic imaging bookmaker in urogenital tumours’.

Purpose
Texture analysis (TA) can quantify variations in surface intensity or patterns, including some that are imperceptible to the human visual system. The purpose of this study was to determine the diagnostic accuracy of radiomic based filtration-histogram TA to differentiate high-grade from low-grade gliomas by assessing tumor heterogeneity.

I'm going to have to rely on memory here as the Stone Checker web site is unobtainable at present but I think the site was saying that Stone Checker software was 'based on TexRAD' which implies the original software has been modified. I'd like to know if they got permission for the modifications, if the modifications have gone through a rigorous research procedure to ensure acceptable results, and if they have necessary legal paperwork from Feedback agreeing to the changes that they suggest have been made.

It may all be fine and dandy but with Stone Checker it is worth double checking. What they do could reflect on the quality of the underlying software algorithms.

Patents! Feedback have patents on their software algorithms. Protection against newcomers using the same modelling procedures.

Stone Checker have the right to use these algorithms for kidney stone analysis but if they have modified the software algorithms as hinted at on their web site I'm not sure that they haven't broken the terms of their agreement with Feedback. Can you clarify please?

It left me puzzled as well Adrian. First ever post from Tobriand that appears to show good reason for having TexRAD as an aid to radiologists in the near future.
