Buyback v special div............in short buybacks for me are about share price level and @ current level 42-43p im in favour.....i understand the case for special div if you need extra income especially if all your shares are within an isa and the extra income avoids tax......gla

...involved in a number of shares most @ reasonable averages & all dividend payers....last october invested a fair amount in that dip....however im finding more difficult to gauge the dips in the current enviroment (do other investors feel the same ?)....still sitting on part of Mays LLoyds dividend and all of septembers.....25th of oct LLoyds Q3 statement which i feel will be very encouraging....when un decided do nothing has been my normal MO......gla

I have noticed in the past that the build up to the statement is intentionally downbeat so when the actual statement is announced in november it is better than anticipated.....(politics).....gla

11:07am: Hunt warns of higher debt interest

UK chancellor Jeremy Hunt warned that next month’s autumn budget statement will include ‘difficult decisions’.

Speaking in Marrakesh, Hunt cited the uncertain global environment, and also flagged that higher interest rates and debt service costs have eaten into the UK’s financial position.

Hunt told Sky News that UK debt interest is likely to be £20 billion to £30 billion higher this year than predicted in the spring.He added while the British economy has proved to be much more resilient than predicted there are short-term challenges.

“We have a challenge with inflation, which is still too high. And we have the challenge of the international environment where there is still a lot of shocks.”

Rates are not historically high currently 5.25 %..What were interest rates in the UK over 50 years?

Interest Rate in the United Kingdom averaged 7.11 percent from 1971 until 2023, reaching an all time high of 17.00 percent in November of 1979 and a record low of 0.10 percent in March of 2020.........

....as always intrigued by broker ratings...rarely give a time scale or much in depth detail...paid guessers sometimes comes to mind lol....would be nice though if an upside unrealistic looking prediction materialised....as ive said before i still feel some very profitable uk companys are undervalued inc Lloyds imo ..and i will continue to add in dips...gla.
