"The Elliott wave principle, as popularly practiced, is not a legitimate theory, but a story, and a compelling one that is eloquently told by Robert Prechter. The account is especially persuasive because EWP has the seemingly remarkable ability to fit any segment of market history down to its most minute fluctuations. I contend this is made possible by the method's loosely defined rules and the ability to postulate a large number of nested waves of varying magnitude. This gives the Elliott analyst the same freedom and flexibility that allowed pre-Copernican astronomers to explain all observed planet movements even though their underlying theory of an Earth-centered universe was wrong.
Some analysts consider the Elliott wave principle as too dated to be applicable in today's markets, as explained by financial market analyst Glenn Neely, author of Mastering Elliott Wave:[10]
Elliott wave was an incredible discovery for its time. But, as technologies, governments, economies, and social systems have changed, the behavior of people has also. These changes have affected the wave patterns R.N. Elliott discovered. Consequently, strict application of orthodox Elliott wave concepts to current day markets skews forecasting accuracy. Markets have evolved, but Elliott has not. "..........
On that note...im going for a drink........gla.

"Dow Jones Industrial Average futures pointed to a second day of losses to start the new quarter as bond yields increased and traders lowered the odds that the Federal Reserve would cut interest rates in June.
Futures tied to the 30-stock Dow
fell 332 points, or 0.8%. Futures
tied to the S&P 500 ticked lower by 0.8%, while Nasdaq 100 futures
slid 1.1%.
The second quarter for stocks is off to a rough start as sticky inflation data to end last week and some strong economic data Monday sends yields higher and reduces odds the Fed will cut rates in June. Oil prices also hit a five-month high on Tuesday, adding to inflationary pressures."
...Mixed Fed signals as to when the next rate cut will be.......however i'm thinking the dow & s&p were due a breather and maybe a small correction....gla
"Also on Friday, the Federal Reserve's Powell participated in a panel discussion at the San Francisco Fed. Powell said the Fed isn't in a rush to cut and will need to see a resumption of lower inflation readings before it gains the confidence to cut rates. Still, Powell said he doesn't want to wait too long to cut, allowing for an unneeded degree of economic weakness.".....
i'm expecting Plenty of mixed messages from all the central banks over the coming calender year....gla.
Could be interesting this year re reinvesting dividends & ISA allowance...UK shares still undervalued imo but obviously some are not as cheap as they were ...probably initially will wait for various scenarios to unfold particularly interest rate movement/domestic & international politics...personally i never use the DRIP service with any div....as posted many times on here dip buying if possible is my preferred method...gla.

Bum68...."Maybe Europe should have had closer ties with Russia rather than the U.S."......the thought of cosying up to the murderous despot putin is repugnant beyond belief.....
