I'd dearly love to know what bargains the people who have been selling Thungela over the last 2 months have been buying instead.

The coal miners hold stock at RB. I'm not aware of any of them running out. Of stock to load on ships. So 'no' is the answer.

Transnet is a constant impediment to trade for all of them, so nothing new.

H1 profit was £22m. It is fair to assume H2 will be at least as good.

So if full year is £44m, that is a profit of £4 per share.

And the share price is £2.40.

Out of interest, is there anyone on here who does NOT expect Thungela to make a profit of at least £1bn in 2022?

Very hard to tell without knowledge of their current year investments, but I guess some version of 'multiply those numbers by 10'.

Pre-tax profit in 2021 was £2.5m, and this year somewhere between £40m and £50m. (H1 £22m)

There is not a single post on here that says any version of 'I don't think the price of coal changes daily'.

Surely the purpose of these boards is to share information that is not widely known, seek advice, or open discussion.

Just stating the bleeding obvious serves no purpose whatsoever.

I think we can safely say that all four of us who read this know what the price of coal is doing Diamondman.

Expecting? No.

They do not really do communications (although very unusually, there was a trading update in June).

I did send them an email a couple of months ago suggesting that there might be some merit in a bit of guidance, and that was acknowledged by return.

But I suspect there is a very good chance the market cap will stay at around £27m until all of a sudden, they announce a 2022 profit of £50m in April.

I agree that the SP behaves as if it is being driven by inexperienced and panic prone investors. The hyper-sensitivity to every movement in the coal price is inappropriate for a company of this size and sector of this maturity.

However, sooner or later, the cash being thrown off will have to be recognised, otherwise we'll be faced with the absurdity of the company being worth less than its money in the bank.

Out of interest, I wonder how many companies in the FTSE 100 will actually make more profit than THG this year?

The problem is that if you look at their website, you can't get away from the impression that this company consists of 4 chaps fiddling around with a digger and a scruffy shed.

In this case, yes, I think Malik has it spot on.

Big players can get it very wrong. Don't forget Goldman were telling us in March that oil was going to $300, and only last month Nomura said £/$ parity in November was a certainty.

However, I tonk a much of the selling here is lots of small holders panicking.
