Profit for market makers. Then variation in spread is related to risk and volume of trading... Shares on AIM tend to have higher spread than main market. Lots of variables control spread between asking and bid prices. Suggest DYOR on this and follow share spreads on a variety of shares using Level 2 if at all possible.

The last 5K trade listed as Unknown was a buy at the mid price.

Nothing strange about the 0.47p price it was UT trade at 9:00:16, nothing dodgy going on I think!

Faith in RMS share price could easily be restored by a positive statement from the company on recent developments. The shareholders need to be simply put in the loop.

If UT is called sell then it simply means out of all the trades made in the auction, more sell trades than buy trades have taken place. End of story. That is how I understand it.

Hi quangy: a good way to explore possible answers to most of your questions in your post is for you to track any trades that you make and see for yourself how they are listed on London Stock Exchange. It of course be great if all trades were legally labelled as either a buy or a sell but unfortunately that seems not to be the case! The basic way that Level 2 displays trades is by calculating which side of the mid price the trade is made. This works fine if the trade is recorded at the same time of the actual trade, before any changes are made to the spread of the share. Good luck with exploring the issues you have raised.

Hi Iseeuer: UT trade represents the auction at the end of the day when RR. shares are bought and sold. For today the UT trading simply means 9 million shares in total were traded in the auction, it does not mean a single trade of 9 million shares were sold or bought. If you want to know specific details, then google uncrossed trades to find out more. Hope this helps a little to understanding UT.
