Maidit,
That imo is why BP have acted. What COPL had was 40mmbbls of 2P light oil which could easily change hands at $10-12/bbl in the USA (I've see some of those when in production hit $20/bbl), not to mention the $100m odd in infrastructure in place and gas volumes already injected. That did NOT include the large discovery, from a fat horses mouth, was 993mmbbls in place with the possibility of 50% recovery on miscible flood, game changer, fall off chair etc (ref multiple videos). BP now imo see an opportunity, with their interest and actions to date will likely have peaked the interest of US entities too. Should the bidding process be reopened BP may not be alone imo.
Given what has led to the current situation here there will be plenty of the players wanting to keep a low profile, not many rules were left unbroken with this one. The TR1 release with all those TR1's in there was an eyeopener for sure, there will be those wanting to keep a low profile due to that. Box trading my a**.
Regards,
Ed.
