Not sure as LCL may well be subject to shorting and day trading. My view on the business is to Keep Calm and Carry on Investing. Loner term investors might have to be patient to see the full rewards of the merger but folks like a flutter even in recessions.....having said that, is investing any different from betting?

The article mentions Westinghouse but the parent company Toshiba in big trouble because of an accounting scandal in its nuclear division so I am not convinced Tokyo is in any mood to back an SMR. Does anyone have a view on the likelihood of the RR SMR gaining government approval? Personally I can see many upsides to SMRs being built around the UK National Grid to ensure energy security over one very large foreign built by the French and financed by China at Hinkley C. Hinkley C will happen so is there a place for SMRs? Politically a RR SMR would safeguard UK jobs, is financially affordable but there are downsides like efficiency, public reaction to siting and security issues.

Hi, I held and sold Ladbrokes for a small gain recently and remain a long term holder of 888. UBS has downgraded WH on the basis of the Government penalising them and others for one armed bandits in their outlets. UBS feel the risk is not priced into the WH share price while it is in LC. When I looked at the financial tear sheet for both companies on the FT I thought WH looked the better and its final dividend payment arrives at the end of April. So is it worth buying this week when UBS reckon it might sink to 240p this year? Will WH and 888 finally come to a deal and merge? The latter would be a game changer for both.

I did own some last year and sold them within 6 months as I wanted the money for other things and became nervous of the Trump on Pharma. AZN and Bristol Myers Squib now on my HL watchlist as I believe that there is a chance one will come up with an immunotherapy winner. BMS has taken a pounding over the past 12 months because of disappointing trials and is down over 22%. I am not going to buy either until Trumpy makes clear what he has planned for Pharma Costs in the USA. As others have said below AZN really a long term buy for those willing to give the company 5 years, that's not really my scene.

I have long been a fan of 888 and hold it for a variety of reasons including little debt, it generates cash and pays a dividend. However, in the past year it has proposed marriage to William Hill and been rebuffed while others in the industry have consolidated and thrived. What would transform 888 is a change in US gaming laws and I speculate that Donald Trump might be willing to consider legalising online gaming given he has had his fingers burned with casinos. Your views would be appreciated on whether 888 is something to hold or a buy. I feel it is a weak buy.
