*hedge funds have only increased their positions by 0.6 in total since the beginning of December

It is to also worth to highlight that, from the start of the month, hedge funds have only increased their position by 0.6%.. This indicates their strategy of suppressing the share price temporarily to capitalize on lower prices before the upcoming week.

The sp trend is testing the 8days moving average support on the technical chart,. I am expecting it to climb back up shortly

Around 50% of the total shares are held by Asfari and Institutional Investors, leaving only half of that available to the public. Additionally, there are Private Investors (PIs) like myself who are unwilling to sell at a significant loss, further reducing the overall available shares to roughly one-third for shorting and day trading and I think around 50% of that third was borrowed for shorting !

If Petrofac issues an in-line or positive trading update next week, or new investors join in, then we can expect a monster rally as shorters scramble to cover their positions.

Shouldn't the company issue an RNS regarding this sponsorship update?

The sp is consolidating just above the 8 days moving average forming a new support line. We should go up once the US market open. Pre-market is in green across the Atlantic

"Shetland Gas Plant co-owner Kistos (LON: KIST) expects the facility to reopen within the next two weeks, the company said today.

The gas plant was shut down last week to allow staff to investigate an equipment failure which resulted in a release of steam.

Kistos said TotalEnergies, the operator of the plant, continues to investigate the cause of the heating medium system failure at the plant, and in parallel has started work to replace the failed section.

Kistos said it is in regular contact with Total and will provide regular updates on the restart.

In the meantime, Kistos confirmed its average production from the plant in 2023 is still expected to be within the previously guided range of 8,500 to 10,500 boe per day."

John, they have too because they've dug a hole that's far too deep for them to get out from without a monster sp rebound. I am firmly holding and waiting for the 20th Dec trading update

At this price , ITM Mcap literally equivalent to the cash in the bank and zero value given to the assets, technology, R&D and order sheet.

I cant buy £50 worth of shares.

Expecting a bounce back to 50s

Very little volume since yesterday so they tried to trigger PIs's stop losses to hoover their shares but it bounced back fast. People are aware of the shorters games here

Looking at L2 , the BID looks solid and the sp is abound to rebound

It is because hedge funds cant squeeze juice from a dry lemon. Both institutional investors and long investors are reluctant to sell, particularly after the CEO's recent update. They are willing to wait until the trading update for better clarity. Currently, the share price is consolidating around 20p, and once it surpasses the 8-day moving average on the technical chart, I believe it will likely test the 30-day moving average ( mid-30s), hopefully before the 20th

Looking at last year's short positions record, hedge funds consistently increased their positions until the day before the trading update (20th Dec), followed by position coverings in January. However, with the current share price at only 1/5 of last year's value, the risk of a short squeeze is significantly higher this time.

Notably, an inverted hammer formed on Friday near the 8-days moving average on the oversold technical chart. Considering PFC is currently in the oversold zone & the substantial short position by hedge funds, I anticipate the share price trend breaking the 8DMA tomorrow or on Tuesday, testing the 30DMA around the mid-30s before the update. Positive news before the trading date could push us to easily reach the 30 days moving average by midweek.
