Top post Jim.
Shed, really want to believe that the next bit of good news will inject momentum. But since I posted my ‘Eeyore’ post all we have done is bounce off the mid 20s. It’s being held back. Don’t know why. But that is the evidence. Can’t see that changing. And can’t see anything special happening until a sale is proposed. Sincerely hope I’m wrong but ....
Bro Jon, can I please add conch salad to the menu. Kalik to wash it down. Cheers!
The government made gambling illegal for all residents for one simple fact. A lot of people used to get paid and the next day had lost all the family income for the week. The law applied to all residents regardless of colour. When I was resident I could take my visitors to Atlantis for them to play the tables/machines but it would have been illegal for me to do so as I was working/resident at the time. Now I say ‘applied’ as I have not been resident since the noughties so things may have changed. But it was most certainly one law for all
There is sound advice on this BB about taking profits on the way to spud. However, I think I will stay fully loaded for the result of the drill. I’ve not been involved with a successful oily before so at that point I will be in uncharted territory. That said, I plan to offload around 40% of my holding upon good news. I will then look to hold the rest until the company is bought out which might be months or years down the line but will, I believe, be at a significant premium over immediate post drill price. I think that places me at the very high end of risky strategy so this is certainly not something I am recommending to others particularly as my assumption about the long term may be completely wrong. If it plays out it will be life changing. If it’s a D then I will lose an amount I am comfortable (not happy!) to lose.
‘Dr there’s signs of life.!’ ‘Thank you nurse. Keep the patient in ICU until we see signs of a more sustained recovery. The patient has a rather erratic history. I’m optimistic for a full recovery. But a period of monitoring is the prescription. Right, off to do my AIM rounds’ ‘Thank you Dr’
Jim, nice post. I may be reading this all wrong. But my sense is that the balance of 'power' has shifted. Whereas we may have been in a position of 'take it or leave it' with regards to FI offers my guess is that we are now saying, look, we haven't bitten off your hand and for good reason. Look at what we are about to do. The implication being that you up your offer or we go for it alone. Stating the obvious here perhaps. But I will not apologise for being a tad excited after 8/9 years! All imo. Best to all. And nice to see things quite civilised
IKing, ‘Institutional Family-Office Investor based in The Bahamas’ - based is the key word. Not necessarily Bahamian. Could be any nationality/flag. Lots of wealthy peeps hiding behind the walls of Lyford Cay.
PWave, I think one difference now compared to the past is the reduction in the political risk. This government more than any other has shown a willingness to proceed even though there are still segments of the population who are not convinced - risk to the environment/tourism etc. Previous governments played to the gallery. I believe this one sees the opportunity to transform the economy. And let’s face it, there are not too many obvious ways to do that. IMO
'Round the Pipe' - 'Round the Bend' - originates from when people were posted to Telegraph Island off the Mussandam Peninsula over a century ago. Winding journey up the Fjords to get there. And then a lonely existance on a rocky outcrop keeping open the wires between the UK and Empire open. Peeps went a bit mad. Back to work .....
With the economy in the state it is in, with clean up/rebuilding costs from the hurricane on top, I think this is the only realistic chance The Bahamas has to transform its economy. The FNM get this. I am therefore absolutely confident that the EA will be forthcoming. This is where having James Smith on the Board comes into its own imo
I lived and worked in Nassau for almost four years and saw it with my own eyes. Beautiful country with beautiful people. Still have friends there and have been back to visit. But there is poverty and crime. And gated communities to keep the wealthy safe and isolated from reality. That is where investment into the MF will come from along with plenty of lawyers!
Robbla is correct. There is an incredible amount of proverty in The Bahamas - just go 'over the hill' and see for yourself. Not helped by the impact of recent hurricanes. There is wealth but it is concentrated across a relatively narrow segment of society - old wealth and new.
For posting the RNS. No red dot or rns showing on my feed which is rubbish. Will have to find alternative source
We conduct a successful well. The SP rockets. Guessing lots will cash out. But what then for BPC? More wells? Sell? Move to eventual production? So I guess I’m asking what happens after June and what happens to the SP?
Yep, they're coming. Amazes me how clever they think they are with their attempts to influence/scare. Pathetic
