Love the rally! Even though I am only 'vicariously' long through ABX, this is most welcome.

Great rally today with Gold down $10, I sure hope this is a good sign. ABX is also holding well.

I haven't seen any news at all, I hope things are progressing well. An update will I am sure be made when there is something to report.

I think that the problem with this process is that they only recover the Gold and not the copper.

It was the prudent thing to do but I believe the dip in Gold prices is very temporary. What I am hoping for is that Tanzania sees sense rather than having to go through years of arbitration - only for Tanzania to lose and really hurt the country as foreign direct investment disappears - which is already happening.

I just hope the process yields a positive outcome with a takeover for cash. To announce a process, go through a process, and then fail to get any result can be terminal to a company.

Well, we will see. It is a national tragedy if they take that path. I for one believe in rationality, and the global recourse would be very severe.

I imagine that this put option hedge is advisable in their case as they have a considerable build in mined Gold inventory that is now subject to the export ban that may or may not be available for sale in the immediate future. The optimistic slant on this is that gold has gone up about 8% during the time that they conservatively couldn't sell the output, so they probably made an unrealized gain of $15-20mm on that alone. Hopefully the negotiations will lead to a positive outcome - and soon.

This is hardly a panic sell off. I still think that a deal is largely completed on the substantial issues and is probably getting 'papered' as we say in the trade.

I have no information at all but my GUESS is that a deal has been done and it is now with the lawyers about to go to parliament, etc. and very hopefully this recent nightmare will have been resolved by rationalistic thought and honest negotiation to be a win win. I am a hopeless self proclaimed optimist, but I really do not believe that Tanzania will go down the Zimbabwe path to utter darkness for generations and generations to come.
