RE: The Worlds Greatest Public Relations24 Oct 2020 11:26
Read back on Lawrence Stroll’s statement which he intends to make Aston Martin the pre-eminent brand in beautiful sports cars, one big problem is that Lawrence Stroll has the world’s most valuable collection of Ferrari’s, in ‘private ownership’, now like it or not LS this will be a stick used to beat you with by Ferrari.
Ferrari, Italians will shout ‘if your cars are better, than why collect Ferrari’s.
So even if for pr purpose Lawrence Stroll announced his decision to put his entire collection up for sale by auction at Bonham’s New York.
Imagine the worldwide publicity that would create, and free publicity, every news media would cover the story.
Lawrence Stroll would simply have to say he felt there was a conflict because of his stated intention for Aston Martin to be the pre-eminent brand.
He doesn’t even have to sell them he could put huge reserves on the ones he wants to keep.
It could even start a war, a bidding war, the Italians would seek it asa chance to reclaim their heritage from the chairman of a English company
I know it’s unlikely and I reiterate it is LS’s private collection, but he may see it may come back to haunt him, as some would say ‘he’s got a foot in both camps’.
