As I explained , in my experience they dont work. Sure the EPS improves and all of a sudden the directors qualify for huge bonuses. Not happy with the divi cut, but at least the money has gone back into the company. Of course the dividend yield is only relative to the price you paid for the shares. Not purely todays price.For me 5% isnt particularly good for the risk I am taking with my holding. But hopefully this can get back to over a pound and I can dump the lot.

At least they didnt waste anything on a share buyback.

This will be the fifth occasion this will happen to me in two years , all introduced a buyback,and so far every single share hasnt even recovered to the price they were at before the announcement. I hope you optimistic individuals are right but my experience tells me different.

If they slash the dividend the share price will plummet.

As I have been saying, a huge error to slash the dividend when they had the money to keep it at a reasonable level. That support is disappearing now as people look for better returns elsewhere.

There is absolutely no benefit in a share buyback whatsoever for shareholders.They could have easily paid a much higher dividend of around 22p with that money. The share price wont improve because they bought 3-4 million shares back.

I have held countless stocks where money that should have gone to the shareholders has been used elsewhere. My most recent one was Central Asia Mining. They halved the divi , launched a buy back and lo and behold 8 weeks later the directors shared £2 million between them.

This will just push up the EPS and ensure the directors get their bonus share options.

I would rather have it in MY pocket.

So a nice big fat options bonus for the directors.

Buy backs unfortunately are a complete falsehood, the NEVER return as much to shareholders as a straight dividend. What isy does do is improve the EPS and ensure the board get their bonuses.

This lot still taking money for old rope. Im still sitting on a £9999 loss with this lot.

All you have to do is take a look at CML , new CEO did exactly that cut the dividend in half.

The share price collapsed 22% and it has still only recovered half that loss, at record copper prices.

A dividend cut will wipe millions more off of the value of this.

Geoff Capes might struggle a bit with that.

They will make enough profit to cover the dividend. Just hope they dont go down the share buyback route, never get any benefit from that.
