Oil price, virus, end of the world etc....this is not what this is about. Look at shares of US airlines and it will be clearer. This is simply concerns about Europe (and UK) going into an economic slowdown vs continued economic strength in the US.

Whether this will be the case, is another matter.

I agree on your point on margins and I also expected/hoped for a better performance in terms of costs. But this was with a very high bar. Yes, we knew Q4 was going to be great. But didn't the market know the same for IAG or Jet2? The former is up 50% since April, the latter 5%. We are down 5% with the results today. I know these are different companies etc, still even if the market 'knew' Q4 was going to be a record year, £5.50 (if it holds...) is just stupid.

Just for this little game, I clarify my hope is that something >650 may allow us to break the loop we are in, but my personal prediction is around 625 (and barring macro negatives, a slow progress on our upward direction till 2025).

Xhita, just to be clear I completely agree with you. I am in EZJ exactly for the same reasons you often discuss here. My question is not whether holidays can bring higher margins. My question is why the market still does not take that well into account. It should be clear and the forecasts for growth in this part of the company are public. We'll soon see.

Hexy, if you went into IAG in the last six months, then going out of Carnival does not sound that bad.

For EZJ, I am still optimistic that sooner or later the market will have to accept the change in the business model. I was in TSLA and RollsRoyce for almost one year before each was suddenly 'discovered' as a rocket...it takes time I guess, or luck..

For EZJ, it is not the company I am worried about, it is the macro environment. Too volatile for my taste, but I will hold.

This is a great question and I am asking myself the same thing for a few months already.

My view is about margins. The market believes IAG is well positioned to increase margins, while EZJ is still seen as being operating on razor-thin margins in the sort of business model as Ryan or Wizz. So, oil up, EZJ down (like wizz or other legacy losers, see Lufthansa).

EZJ needs to demonstrate they have margin growth. Will the holiday segment deliver that? That was my rationale investing here. However, the story as well as the forecasts for growth on this segment of the company should be now well known so I am not so sure anymore...

Absolutely, £535m would be bad indeed. AFAIK, forecasts for earnings before tax for 2024 are around 606. Anything below that is going to be an opportunity for market manipulation going down.

IAG is now at the Sptring 2021 levels. We are still 40% below that. Maybe we should ask chatGPT why that's the case...or tea leaves

This is getting rather annoying. So, if he repeats this exact same line another time, do we have to fall by 5% again? Can he then repeat this a few more times and halve the SP? Rubbish.

BTW, I would normally not expect CEOs to comment outside results' days, but it would be nice if for a change IAG or Easy would come out and say, no sorry, this is just that garbage ryanair, we do not see that at all. It would be nice, just to see the reaction to that.

inflation at target, agreed, but service inflation still at 6%, and increasing. House prices already creeping up again (with all their nefarious effects on the UK economy). Employment still robust (indeed, salaries still going up much more than productivity or GDP).

I mean, cutting now or in a month won't make a massive difference, but it would have been a signal we are not waiting to jump back to a low rate environment.

Ok, so already my first predicion on BoE decision was wrong! (tbh I think they made a mistake there). So, here is hoping my other predictions are similarly wrong and EZJ gets its fair value soon.
