Hi Gerry, How long have you held ULVR for? Ihave1076 shares with Unilever bought in 2003 around 1165p. I'm thinking of moving my funds to Diageo the company that have rare brands that CANT be found anywhere else.

As DGE has held in the 2200p area for the last 2mths or so, is it time to sell my ULVR ( bought in 2003 at 1165p ) and move here. It's looks so compelling, but the P/E looks high at 22 compared to a FTSE of 15.6 times & S&Pvof 17 times. But talking of earnings. Back in 1999 I hear lots of companies were trading at close to 40 times earnings before dotcom era...

...hmm I just read on research site covering this trust. They have mentioned the risk here is they pay the dividend from debt.

..you asked what could get 350p? Easy!! Scaremongering with investors not willing to take hits on their current portfolio balance sheet!😂 Anything is possible with share prices now adays.i hold both BP, RDSB, CVX, and BRCI.

...nearly 24mths on and am just in profit!! think I will just leave this until nextyear and see what happens with the Brexit fears against this company... I see the price of a Mars Bar is to rumoured to be priced 10p higher by year end. I can remember when I was 12 it was 20p and bigger than present...haha

Hi Liberalman, I have held my MRCH trust, but today caught a piece about the trust being one that is on the sell list of his investment trusts for 2017 from ones he held in 2016. I still hold ALAI, MRCH, MUT, MYI, JEMI, and CTY plus Newton Global Income W. having checked the balance sheet I can see that the trust is still in loss making mode at -13p EPS. How have your trusts faired the last 6 months? Which ones are you adding to or starting a new position in? MRCH's just seems to be a cash cow churning out dividends, and recently raised its last dividend from 6p to 6.1p! Would it not have been better to pay down debt than pay out the higher dividend to help their gearing? Not sure if I have explained correctly?

With the UK and the rest of the world been through a torrid time over the last 8years or so, but we have rebounded and are on another growth story. City of London has gained since 1999 till today in relative terms, 60.6%. I added here back a year ago, and intend in doubling up over the next fortnight... I own BRCI, ALAI, JEMI, MUT, MYI, MRCH, Newton Global Income W. Maybe tempted to invest in SOI and PLI all depending on the American interest rate debate, as it is going to have a big knock on effect on emerging markets growth.

You mention the dividend being nice. Goldman has Greene King on its conviction but list. Though, I still haven't bought any. I'v got Diageo & Unilever stock amongst my other 30 holdings. Personally I'd wait 12mths till dust settles before buying. There is at least 18% upside to the area where the growth is in this stock (325p), the downside is south of 200p. As we are currently I no mans land, not knowing where ADN is headed, would it be stupid to buy ??

We're in breakout territory...

Assets under management jumped from £35.7bn to £40.5bn and profits rose by £3.5m to£171.6m. The firm also announced a fy dividend of 27.2p up from 25.5p in 2015.

The bottom line results were ghastly at 62% drop. On the share buyback I'd say of $1bn was just a waste of time considering the size of HSBC.

What do you think about investing more in BRWM, though at 13p FY dividend pay out if that's correct(?) that gives a yield of 3.26%
