Banking system is dysfunctional, ECB wants banks to lend but doesn't let them to make profits. It's like the ECB has the banks picking up the tab for their monitory policy. Just can't work and if they don't get it sorted then the Tax payer is going to be on the hook for another bailout

yeah, if she comes out and buys when this hits the floor we'd call her the smartest in the room. but that ain't going to happen. The transformation needed such as the new "IT system" by the time we get this it'll be out of date..probably run on Windows vista too just to make sure some naff IT company is kept in gravy.
Still have branches in every town and village and for what? Even An post has abandoned that system and they are semi-state owned. BIRG is a listed company accountable to share holders not TD's and Councillors.
I don't buy that crap that Mortgage returns are squeezed, Irish banks are making bigger profits on mortgage lending than those in any other euro-zone country. And whats more they should be squeezing the customers for more . This is a Business not a Charity.
All boils down to the directors having no stake in the company,

If anyone is knocking the price down it's these guys. They have increased their holdings in BOI to over 3% last month, very much under the radar unlike the big price jump that happened when they went over 3% in Deutsche bank.

Are you sure those numbers are correct, I think there's a gang up north with a JCB who might sell them a few atms for less than that. Mind you they would be empty but I'm certain the tax payer might be good enough to replenish them.

I think betting against the S&P will be the same as it was for the folks betting against Tesla.
Expect the S&P to reach higher levels as there's more to come from the bulls and while it reaches mad levels lads betting against it get burnt.

back to BIRG, I'm expecting another march upwards now as we've bounced off the bottom of the upward channel. I'm not expecting Feb results to be the doom and gloom that many hope for. Francesca seems to be very "prudent"

The Bank has become much leaner, it's investing in new technologies, are operating with strong capital and liquidity levels, and has restored profitability to acceptable levels.
Don't be surprised if this regional bank with it's low P/E ratios end up making 2020 a stellar year

I think Bank of Ireland is about to become a very interesting Bank now that it has both feet in the EU and UK

€6 is the big one to break.
Fair value here is ~€7.38 so this bank is still undervalued by as much as 30%+
