Blackrock are already investing in ARB, EUA and GGP plus others via their tracker funds which were signalled when ARB entered the MSCI Global Small Cap Index in May. See the Ownership tab - funds iShares is BR and see what is reported far under the funds tab (under Ownership). Of course tracker funds operate differently to active funds but ultimately the shares are under Blackrock ownership for them to do as they please.

Exactly Ian - that proposal came with a number of conditions and this is why its taking so long. Those conditions probably can't be talked about in too much detail because there is always a chance that something not anticipated pops up which then needs to be dealt with if a course correct is needed. All frustrating but - activity is happening in the background if you know where to look and interpret what you find. I wouldn't be surprised if the buyer has also asked to keep as much detail out of the public eye as possible - why let competitors know what you are getting.
