Is it true that when Labour came to power that unemployment was 4.1% and now it is 5.2%?

That indicates in 21 months the growth area for unemployment has risen by 27%

Is it true also that all this growth is down to Reeve’s? Could we be looking at unemployment reaching 6% by the Autumn?

With growing unemployment this must surely be putting a strain on those people with Lloyds accounts. Increased debt, defaulting on mortgages, troubled times are ahead.

The last full years divi before Covid returned a dividend of 3.21p

Dividends were then suspended, only to return and much reduced to its next full year of 2p

It has taken 8 years after the last full years dividends from the pre Covid time to get to where we are now at 3.65p when the final dividend comes in this April, which is just marginally more than 3.21p all those years ago.

If you compounded the 3.21p dividend 8 years ago by say a modest 10% compared to the 15% now we should be looking at a share dividend of about 6.25p.

I would welcome and be very happy if this was the dividend.

Here is some news from the CBI that indicates all is not well at the beginning of this year. It doesn’t sound good.

Does it have any potential to change the course of the share price for Lloyds?

The CBI has predicted a 'broad-based' downturn in activity, with expected drops in the services sector, distribution sales including retail, and in manufacturing.

It says that activity has fallen in the three months to January, with all sub-sectors reporting a fall and that businesses have also been struggling with national insurance and business rate hikes.

It also says that latest research shows 'persistently weak growth expectations’ and that the economy has not experienced a strong start to 2026.

The CBI are not quick to criticise so when they say business has had a bad start to the year, Labour should listen.

The CBI say the economy has been crippled under the stifling weight of Labour's Jobs Tax, business rates hike and the red tape 'UnEmployment' Act and nothing is moving.

Headcount is to fall slightly over the next three months by 8 per cent, while consumer services firms expect a more significant fall in numbers employed, at around 29 per cent.

The figures are from the CBI Growth Indicator, which is a composite measure of activity, based on responses to CBI surveys.

With respect, our current situation shows that the current growth is close to being flat with very little upturn.

We also know that public opinion shows that the majority of the people in this country see the economy in a poor state and actually blame Starmer and Reeves as much as they did the previous governments efforts.

You then have to look at all the U turns the government have done and what this has actually cost on top as opposed to making savings in many cases which contradicts the idea of restored stability.

Then there are the ratings for Starmer and Reeves, you don’t have to look far to see the negative ratings for the pair which show they are as bad and actually worse than the previous lot.

Lastly, we just need to look at how inflation is still above target, our slow productivity and our high debt relative to GDP

Well, if you feel that the politics has what ‘you’ feel anti government sentiment then that is a chance to have an adult discussion on how they are connected. When I put a post up recently that was Lloyds related and had valid points I asked you to respond on them, shortly afterwards, you never replied and later it got deleted.

That also goes for AI, if ‘you’ believe the content is not true then come back and prove why it isn’t factual. AI is here to stay and yes there are times it isn’t correct but you can’t dismiss it totally and ban it here. I am not alone on this forum using it but it is noted that when I use it you try to trash it and me but when another user who we both know uses it I have never seen you do the same, see my point?

As for those people that ‘snip’ articles which you don’t like you also trash them, but when others do the same that have specific political leanings you side with, you leave them alone. Like I said, if you are not happy with a post then reply back in an adult way and put your case forward. We may/will not agree but then we can all agree to disagree.

Well Harley, I am sure Lloyds have decided that AI has come far enough now that it can be trusted in its first launch area, that is good enough for me. As time goes on it will only improve, sadly it will cost jobs in all sectors but that is advancement. Lloyds is investing £4B in technology and this is part of it.

Good job that when I use ‘AI’ for DMOR it gives me a broad overview of the state of Lloyds now and in the future. Who would have thought it.
