"Gas exploration in Guercif: After conclusive results, Predator Oil & Gas launches new tests The British company Predator Oil & Gas, which holds 75% of the onshore permit in Guercif alongside ONHYM (25%), has announced the launch of testing operations without a drilling rig on its well MOU-3. This campaign is part of a series of promising work, strengthened by positive results recently obtained on a second well, MOU-5."
A few kilometers from the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline, the Guercif permit is delivering its first results. Predator Oil & Gas has just launched rigless testing operations on its MOU-3 well. Expected to last ten days, this work aims to perforate and test the shallow "A" reservoir, identified as the most promising for gas production and compressed natural gas (CNG) development. Samples taken during previous drilling have already confirmed the presence of biogenic gas, including helium, reinforcing the interest in this target.
"At the same time, the drilling of the new MOU-5 well, launched on March 3, 2025, has achieved its primary objective. Initial data confirm the presence of the targeted reservoir, located further north of MOU-3. This reservoir is of particular interest for the exploration of helium and additional volumes of gas. The company plans to continue developing this high-potential area through a large-scale 3D seismic survey. This program could be financed through a farmout, i.e., the sale of a portion of the rights in exchange for a capital contribution. The main reservoir of this structure, named "Titanosaurus," contains a prospective recoverable gas resource estimated at 5.9 trillion cubic feet (TCF) under the median scenario (P50).
The Moulouya (MOU) prospect is a low-risk gas field, offering multiple opportunities in high-quality reservoirs located at depths ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters. Its proximity to the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline—only 9 km away—represents a major logistical and economic advantage. The existing infrastructure has excess capacity that could facilitate gas transportation, both for domestic needs and for export to the European Union.
Thanks to the shallow depth of the drilling, the quality of the dry gas present, and the existence of potentially continuous reservoir sands, investment costs should remain very limited. This is a significant advantage in a global energy context where rapid and inexpensive access to reliable resources is becoming a priority.
It should be noted that Predator Oil & Gas, which remains debt-free, had cash of £3.8 million at the end of the 2024 financial year, ensuring it has the means to finance all of its work programs for the current year".
