For a pretty good real world comparison of the two and also bare in mind that the Tesla comes with all the bells and whistles as standard not as optional expensive extras and that the Tesla is much more energy efficient.
Tesla also has its own charging infrastructure which seems to be much more reliable than the alternatives.
I am not sure how many Polestars Volvo (and Geely) can i intend to make in a year but I doubt it comes close to Tesla
numbers.
Finally the Tesla has all the necessary equipment for FSD (which is getting better and better every day).

It was down early in the day but finished up nearly 1.4% you cannot trust the share prices on this site; just imagine where it will be when the starting gun gets fired for Austin and Grunheide.

Yes I have seen a few of his videos and yes I think there are too many and from his appearance I think he needs to get more sleep; he does do a lot of research and he is hot on Chinese EV makers. I'm not too sure where the Chinese will be in the game they certainly have a big domestic market but a lot of those vehicles are very small and have no safety features so will not make it anywhere else BYD and Neo probably need to be watched and MG seems to turn out reasonable vehicles.

Not a deflection at all you bears just love pointing out Tesla deficiencies and how the ''competition is coming'' well it isn't is it well not from Porche, Rivian, Lucid, GM, Audi, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, Honda or Ford or virtually any of the legacy auto makers who should have been able to make good reasonably competitive EV's at scale. Some of the new start ups may be able to cut the mustard but will have difficulty scaling up production to the requires level to be serious competition.

Seems like a pretty good number to me I am more interested on number of vehicles produced.
Perhaps you would like to comment on the whistleblower leak concerning the Porsche Taycan battery problem if correct there is a widespread problem with the 900v battery charging system which is apparently overcharging cells causing them to overheat and the battery management system cuts those cells off causing the battery to loose performance and in worst cases resulting in fires.

The actual big building is the first stage of the planned facility there are three more similarly sized buildings to be constructed not counting the battery building.

I picked up a useful and revealing bit of information about the Grunheide factory from Lars Stranridder this morning all the HooHah about the water problems for the factory well apparently every other industrial user can use unlimited amounts of water. All the environmental objections from I think it is NABU/NABOO well surprise surprise who funds them and have been doing so for at least 15 years none other than VW.
Finally something for for the bears on FSD just go to Youtube and look at what the Beta testers are getting in particular Dr Know-it-all recent 9and a half hour trip to Washington DC through Thanksgiving traffic with over 99% requiring no interventions and Rob Maurer trips around Milwaukee with minimal interventions. OK not quite there yet but along fast.

There could be all sorts of things to announce or maybe nothing at all. It would not surprise me if any of the following was announced.
1) Official opening of Giga Austin.
2) Official opening of Giga Grunheide (Berlin).
3) A stock split 4 of 5 for 1.

I don't know how the dancing Robot is coming along and I really don't care that much. I am really happy with the way vehicles and electric power are progressing I don't need the Teslabot to be a success.
The Teslabot is a research project they are supposed to have a prototype out next year but I am not holding my breath. When Teslabot does come out I hope it will be able to do a great deal more than dance (I wouldn't mind betting the Boston Dynamics robots are already able to dance).

One would think that anyone living in the Netherlands would be very much in favour of using green energy to mitigate climate problems particularly the predicted rise in sea levels as most of the country is below current sea level.

Where does the a lot of the oil come from in the Netherlands? Well I can tell you it's not locally produced but imported probably from North Sea producers but also likely from the Middle East. Why not import solar power from North Africa? We (UK) are signed up to import Solar Power from Morocco there are already several undersea cables bringing electricity to Europe from North Africa.
How many birds do you think were killed when Exxon Valdeez went down in Alaska or Torey Canyon or any of the other thousands of oils spills?
Why are you caling Elon a liar over solar powered charging stations just because he has not erected solar panels over each one does not mean they cannot be solar powered, there is such a thing as the electricity grid the he panels could be and probably are miles away from many charging stations. I only use green electricity at home I don't have solar panels or a wind turbine my energy provider guarantees that my power will be green and if non is available when I need it they replace the energy I used with green energy when its available.
You will have to do a lot better than this.

Surely it's a matter of taste there is nothing that will suit everyone and aesthetics are very subjective. The late Harry Wheatcroft when asked which of his roses he liked best, said very quietly ''the one that sells best''.

Does it really matter?
The vehicle is designed to be very aerodynamic which does have a big impact on exterior looks, it is also designed to be very spacious inside seating 5 with plenty of head and leg room and still have plenty of cargo space or with an additional row of seats seven with less spacious accommodation for the two extras (certainly big enough for children) so a very practical vehicle; and as its selling like hot cakes with an ever lengthening waiting list a lot of people really like it.

It's not nearly ambitious enough far to little far to late. A 50% mix of ICE and 'electrified' so not even all BEV by 2030 is not a recipe for success. I'd be prepared to make a fair sized wager that Giga Shanghai will be turning out more BEVs in 2030 than Nissan plans to produce Can you arrange a wake for Nissan because if that's their plan they are going to die.

One of the things I like most about Tesla fan boys is those who produce YouTube videos and those that do regular drone fly overs

Anyone have any idea what they are for? For what its worth IMO they are for IDRA Giga Die Casting machines and heavy duty stamping machines.
Another question is what are they going to make with them? Many more Mode Ys the new affordable car something else?

Rivian have no experience of volume production, apparently the Van for which they have 100,000 orders for is not working out well in the real world and Amazon is not happy with its current performance. I have not been able to find out what battery supply they have managed to lock in or what the actual run rate is at their new factory and I think it unlikely they have reliable manufacturing costs for volume production (as they have not done any) so what the profit margin is who knows.
The Cyber truck has at least 1.2 million pre-orders up until they stopped taking orders (some sites say may be as many as 3 million). To date as it is not being manufactured yet and there is significant new technology in the vehicle, mega castings, very hard stainless body work, armoured glass etc. production costs at volume will not be known either; however Tesla does have a lot of credibility as volume producer and the materials are well understood and the vehicle has been designed to be 'easy' to make. I think it will start production much quicker than you think Elon is very good at sandbagging and based on how quickly Model Y was rolled out I think it will be soon. The Austin factory (stage1) is very nearly complete it is a massive facility with lots of space for a short assembly line, it will be very short, three structural cast under-body parts simply shaped folded stainless panels welded by robots, then final assembly. No paint required.
Tesla must be happy with making 4680 batteries otherwise they would not have shipped new battery machinery to the factory and they would not be upping production staff at Kato Road and advertising for battery staff at Austin.

I am attached to it certainly, I think it may well be the best investment of this century. Emotionally attached I don't think so, it is certainly a share like no other, which does seem to attract enthusiastic owners and detractors. i am sure i don't love it nearly as much as you hate it.

That's correct E|ileen its only a share that I own as a long term investment, not one that I sold short and need to to fall in value to make money. Saw an estimate last week that shorting has been extremely expensive 60 billion dollars and counting.

I have been looking into this and I would like to know about the forced bit.
My investigations reveal that the grant was for construction of the battery factory. To be eligible the technology has to be new and the factory the first place it will be made obviously a non starter as the 4680 is already in production in the Kato Road facilty.
Secondly we don't know what strings were attached to the grant.
All in all I don't think Tesla was forced to decline the deal.
