Without knowing the circumstances previous driving record number of violations / tickets age of person and model of car it is impossible to say. Many years ago I came across a 19 year old with Ford Escort RS 2000 who could only get Insurance from one company at £4000 a year (this is a long tome age when 4 grand was a hell of a lot of money)

I did not mention Tesla Insurance because it is not an option available in most places yet, apparently it is very difficult to start an Insurance company with many bureaucratic hurdles. Where available there is the option of Tesla Insurance which I understand is very keenly priced owing to the fact that they have driver and vehicle information indicating safe (or unsafe) vehicle use on which to make the quote.

I am not surprised that insurance is relatively high Teslas are still fairly rare, relatively expensive and Insurers certainly know how to pile on the costs for performance vehicles, many Teslas have super car acceleration and top speed so super car insurance rates are hardly surprising. Surely anyone buying a new car looks into insurance costs and gets quotes before taking the plunge.

I do not deny that use of child labour in artisanal cobalt mining in the DRC is rife. Just because it goes on does not mean Tesla is guilty of it they apparently make great effort to source the cobalt they use. Not only that they use much less cobalt in their batteries (none in LFP ones or the new 4680's) Incidentally do you know how much cobalt is used by the oil industry in refining crude?

Like Tesla is the only the company does this I think you will find every large employer in the world is playing this game and Tesla plays it well they did not even have to try to get 1.5 billion dollars for building the battery factory at the Berlin factory.

The Mercedes at $94,000 after tax break is hardly competition sure it is cheaper than Model S but does it have the performance? The Audi I think you will find it is the starting price (9 pages of 'extras') and again the performance stats do not compare. Incidentally even if they were true competition just how many do you think they can make?

You say its all about the share price for Elon I am fairly sure its not. He has on a couple of occasions said that the share price was too high and got into trouble. Elon is apparently currently living in a very small two bedroom house near Spaceex Boca Chica. He takes no salary from Tesla (by law he is paid the minimum wage which he donates to a charity) yes I know he is extremely wealthy and owns an awful lot of Tesla shares. I do not believe he is driven by money. After selling Paypal he could have retired in luxury anywhere in the world and never lifted a finger again instead he takes on Tesla and founds Spaceex and works pretty much every waking hour every day and has taken no holidays for years.

Elon is a really accomplished sandbagger he uses this tactic to divert attention from what the company is actually doing to send the competition in the wrong direction. Case in point Elon's plea for nickle producers to produce a lot more nickleI to ease battery constraints and then signing up CATL to produce hundreds of thousands on LFP batteries. I am still not sure of what to make of the Teslabot the specifications appear fairly unambitious and I would not be surprised if there was some Elon sandbagging going on here. We will not know how ridiculous the Teslabot is for a while, apparently we can expect a prototype next year. What I would say is that FSD has massive implications for the project as the robot will need to operate in the real world be able to navigate where it has to go and need to have spatial awareness which the FSD AI will be able to provide. Have you seen the Boston Dynamics robots? One of the robots has Tesla logo on the side so maybe working together.
As for Robotaxis by 2020 well it was certainly a big ask and an impressive goal unfortunately still not met but that does not mean it will not come to pass and maybe sooner than you think.

As I have already stated Teslas being driven with FSD engaged are 9 times safer than cars without FSD.
I never said FSD was feature complete or that there could never be an accident and bear in mind that being involved in an accident does not necessarily indicate that the Tesla vehicle was at fault.
From the research I have done FSD will be solved by AI and that to solve anything with AI you need data vast amounts of data Tesla has about 4 billion miles and counting of real world driving data which is many orders of magnitude higher than anyone else.
The American authorities are currently conducting an evaluation of Tesla FSD and other manufacturers driver assist systems which will have very interesting results but don't hold your breath this is going to take a long time 4 billion miles of tesla data will take some going through.

The new factories are very close to starting production with structural batteries single piece front and rear castings and a lower price.

Yes there are some other (very few) very high performance EVs they are also significantly more expensive than the Tesla.

1) Gordon Johnson pretty much everything he has uttered - example Tesla sales in Europe are crashing used in the the first month of the quarter when vehicles were sold in USA and not exported to Europe. Also market share is falling which is a half truth if the market size doubles and other manufacturers sell some cars then there market share rises and Teslas market share declines even though they are selling every car they can make.
2) Numerous shorts -'Tesla are in trouble because the big boys are coming and they will make better, cheaper , more efficient EVs than Tesla' VW Audi Mercedes BMW GM Ford all big volume manufacturers of ICE vehicles all making EVs none of them are comparable to Tesla on features and price.
3) FSD is the worst driver assist system way behind Waymo, Mobileye even Blue cruise and Auto Pilot. Just have a look on Youtube for a any other than Tesla FSD being used in City driving suburban driving most of them have difficulty changing lanes on the highway.

Numerous accusations of Tesla being a fraud, where's the evidence? Tesla submits GAAP accounts and is audited.
The FSD stuff, well the chart shows WAYMO in the lead and yes it does have some driverless vehicles in Phoenix Arizona in a very expensively mapped geo-fenced area outside that area it is useless. Tesla vehicles equipped with FSDand with it engaged are involved in an accident about every 4.5 million miles which is about 9 times safer than a car without FSD.
Technology I prefer to listen to people who know about the technology they are talking about and there are lots of them on youtube all of whom seem genuinely impressed; rather than bears with vested interests in denigrating the company.
Making money and returns Teslas CAGR is 56% (over several years) it is profitable and has been for several quarters all whilst it is building two enormous factories and enlarging re-jigging others. No mention of this in the article.
Tesla bears have lost a vast amount of money despite attempts to discredit the company and Elon Musk by whatever means at their disposal spreading FUD untruths and half truths and downright lies.

Planes have a system called Auto Pilot it does not mean they are allowed to fly themselves. FSD is a BETA system and nowhere does it say it can drive itself, when activated in the vehicles it brings up a warning telling the driver to pay attention and be prepared to take control.

Whats your point Eileen? FSD is a beta driver assist system which is getting better by leaps and bounds we all know it is not perfect - yet. It is however much better than any other driver assist system and getting better all the time and should you think FSD means it should drive itself (which there are many youtube videos showing just that in all manner of road situations) the system makes it very clear that you need to pay attention and be prepared to take control. Incidentally Auto Pilot, Co Pilot, Mobil Eye Blue Cruise etc. etc, come nowhere close to FSD check out Sandy Munro on Fords driver assist system which only works on highways (motorways) and cannot even safely handle bends in the road,

I have been trying to find out about the opportunity in Cyprus without much success.
I have found out that Cyprus was mined extensively from ancient times and that allegedly much of the copper used in the Roman Empire was sourced from Cyprus.
So does anyone have a clue how efficient ancient miners were at extracting copper and other metals from the base substrate? 2 How much copper was taken from Cyprus over the time since extraction began and ended. 3 Apparently some of the waste tips are scheduled ancient monuments will the government allow them to be reprocessed?
My take is that modern extraction techniques will be way more efficient - not only that there must be lower grade material that the ancients did not even attempt to tackle that can be successfully and profitably treated now.
If anyone on here has clue let us all know, for what its worth with the world going electric and renewable I think that virtually any copper deposit with reasonable scale cannot be overlooked and should be able to make money.

I do take BB comments with a pinch of salt but I take exception to the short posters who attempt to drive down the value of stocks for personal gain by spreading FUD half truths and often downright lies. Tesla does not pay to advertise their products and advertising is what keeps nearly all mass media industries afloat so it is no coincidence that Tesla gets wildly exaggerated bad press the paying advertisers call the shots anything goes to try and slow Tesla down (and not so long ago to try and kill it).
Much of what you posted is quite correct the bull market most certainly will not go on forever and pretty much all stocks have very hefty valuations, I dare say that ridiculously cheap money will have to end one day too.
For me it all comes down to who is going to win in the new world post the great crash? Historically the new and the innovative always seem to have done well in recessions and you will need to look really hard to find ant company more innovative than Tesla. When the great crash comes and debt gets more expensive who is going to survive Tesla with about 12 billion of debt with about 15 billion in cash and substantial product margins (and not forgetting absolutely massive demand) or the legacy auto industries with eye watering amounts of debt little cash minuscule margins and limited ability to make substantial numbers of EVs even if they wanted to coupled with ever decreasing demand for their ICE products.

Are you saying that all the technology stocks went through the tubes in the dot com bubble? What about Microsoft Google and Apple? Nothing wrong with value investing if that's your bag I just don't see why you are posting on here.
Tesla is about disrupting multi trillion dollar industries the electric energy industry, the personal transport industry and it has only just started. These industries have a vast addressable market that Tesla has barely scratched; and governments around the world are going all in on renewables. So Tesla plan to grow at a 50% + CAGR for the foreseeable future. This is a crazy notion I know, no other company making complex engineered products has done it before but Tesla has been doing it for years and will continue to do so for at least another three just by completing and ramping up the Berlin and Austin factories. This is why I am invested here with significantly more than 1% of my portfolio and which thanks to the company's stunning recent performance actually cost me nothing.

Just found this relating to EV sales in Europe and Norway in particular and how well Tesla are doing compared to the 'competition from the Big Boys' in the auto industry.
