And therein in the problem, clockface. Some people on here, and wider social media, have convinced themselves that hole number 1 is going to be killah, a game changer, company transformational, etc.
They may be correct. I hope so.
But very few of such people seem to have left any wiggle room for results being just average, a mere show of something more, respectable but not life changing. We all must keep your feet on the ground with mining because many many times the result does not go as hoped.
Yes, Craig's vibe has been positive and quite outgoing. But he's also there to sell a long term project. Any perceived delight at his words or facial expressions does not mean a done deal or the results will be better than hoped for. Craig has years to get this right.
Results could be good, great or awesome, sure. I'll be up there cheering if they are. :) But colour me unsurprised if they're just so-so as they explore the lay of the land. If the first hole does well, the second and third holes might not. Mining is very risky, patchy and laborious. I don't expect miracles and esp. not based on what the CEO says. I like Craig, I think he's genuine and sensible. But it matters not to him if he gets a good result tomorrow, or in 6 months time. It's time he can afford to sacrifice in order to slowly build the dream. People have to ask themselves if they want to be here that long, or more. Because you have to learn to ride the waves and not expect that smiley face CEO = mega result. We all want it to be, but history of mining says take care reading too much into these things.
The actual main fact for me is that IF this result is duff, they have Blue Moon to return to which was a good initial result (and one which I'm still unclear on why it was abandoned and to date going through regulatory hoops after appearing so promising) . But at least its still there. There's plenty to look forward to be get excited about at ECR. But the usual caveats should apply in vacuums/radio silence periods. If you don't expect much, a good result will be all the more sweeter. If you expect the moon on a stick you're highly likely to be living in a state of hyper tension. And worse, transferring that tension to others, which isn't fair. We're all adults and we must accept that mining carries great lows as well as highs.
