The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Welcome back! Lol
There used to be an old American guy called ADRS who posted on here. He ended up doing hard time in Rikers Island for a brutal assault on his good lady. Terrible business! I think holding these pushed him over the edge! Lol
Only one new ship called Spirit of Discovery - due for delivery in summer 2019. Letter also mentioned a new membership scheme called Saga Possibliities which will include rewards. Smooth sailing all the way! Lol
Predictable mates rates from the MMS but look at the buys v sells and it's clear the market does agree
Underlying profit up 5.6%, debt down by nearly £80m, dividend for the year up to 8.5p.
Orna NiChionna appointed chairman of the board nomination committee - she was chairman of the Royal Mail remuneration committee which approved a £250k bonus to Moya Greene in 2013. Vince Cable quite rightly ordered it to be paid back. These people fail upwards.
Deutsche Bank bought 5 million on 15th of March
Not a bad idea - it doesn't always happen first thing - Friday it spiked down to 202 after opening at normal levels but it usually happens in the morning at some point.
It's a pleasure - look at that daily low of 205.90 - they do a flash crash every morning to trigger stops. I always adopt a belt and braces approach even if it does raise the margin requirement. Took some profit at 11.15 so it's a good start to the week.
I should add, no shares actually change hands in the closing auction, it's just to determine an accurate closing price.
Those are unfilled large orders which are entered in the closing auction and the SETS algorithm determines a mid price by matching orders from each side of the book. 21m is the total volume - buys and sells - and 211.70 is the mid price which the algorithm, in this instance, guesses is what people are prepared to buy at. The 211.70 will be carried forward to the pre-open auction at 7.50 on Monday to determine the opening price. As to why the volume is so big - results on 29th of March would be my guess.
74 shares for Lance Batchelor the other day - huge vote of confidence
Agreed, making money everyday is soooo boring! Dullsville, USA ! lol
I was watching my monitor on Friday when this spiked to £2.02 but by the time I hit the sell button it was back to £1.95 - given the volumes being reported I thought it was a glitch. Of course, after the close, 5 million buys were reported and, lo and behold, today it closes at £2.02. This was obviously being micro-managed, as the rise was graduated today, to prevent a stampede for the exit and whoever bought that chunk on Friday has flipped them for a seven point profit.
If you look at the 52 week low it was 170 at this time last year. Looks like people are dipping in and out for the dividends. Good six month spread bet from here - buy of course.
Deutsche bank sold a couple of hundred thousand and Artemis investments sold 1.5 million. No cause for concern and I expect this to open up on Monday morning.
Looked ok to me: Chief executive officer Lance Batchelor said: "The business continues to perform well, with our core insurance and travel divisions both demonstrating consistency in delivering robust results."
