As I stated in my original post I was just throwing it out there and not claiming anything, just asking for feedback and no intention of using it to manufacture any tax return.

Yes I know the dividend angle is opportunistic but never-the-less we are all aware that we have lost valuable dividend income.

As for the CGT loss element I am not so sure how that would playout with HMRC but I don't think it is as simple as what you're making out. HMRC cannot declare them as a nil value, they don't have the authority to do that. Currently there is no recourse to recoup any investment nor any time frame as to if or when it maybe possible, but we cannot just remain in continious limbo.

Unfortunately I do not agree with your comments; although taxed differently from an appreciation share price value vs price paid dividends are still a gain on capital invested and as such they are a capitol loss.

As for the asset part of your comment, it's irrelevant whether the asset still exists or not. What matters is that capital invested is unable to be accessed or recovered to to actions taken by the UK government and there is no guarantees in place ensuring future access. How long do we stay in limbo, 5yrs, 10yrs, 20yrs?

Currently my Evraz book cost has a value of £60k and a estimated loss of dividend earnings of £14k per year (based on my average dividend for the 3 yrs prior to sanctioning) I am considering whether to try use this to offset CGT and see what reaction I get from HMRC. As I see it the UK government has created a situation whereby UK Evraz shareholders have no route to recoup their investment and as such it should be treated as a loss. It will be interesting to hear their explanation as to why, if they refuse to accept this.

Whilst we saw the panicked sell reaction in the market yesterday many viewed the situation as an overreaction (myself included) and took it as an opportunity to buy at a dicounted level and lock in a dividend of >11%. What needs to be understood is that whilst Iran has intimated its intention to strike Israels energy infrastucture it would require many missiles to accurately break through Israels highly technical and effective air defense systems to cause any severe adverse consequences, this in itself is not very likely. When considering the risk to Energeans assets it is relatively low. Energean operate O&G extraction from subsea wells using large submersible pumps to supply a FPSO which in turn supplys tankers with crude oil and gas. As the FPSO and the tankers are fully mobile assets they can be moved in to a safe location (it is understood this is currently underway). As for the subsea wells and pumps these are very small targets and will be very difficult and risky for Iran to locate for a precision strike and probably not consider by Iran as high profile targets. Also one needs to understand that other non-Israel operators (including Lebanon, France, Italy, Qatar and the EU) also have O&G operations in the same area and any wayward Iranian missile striking these assets would have serious consequenses for Iran. Investors must do their own research and due dilligence but my view is this was a typical market overreaction which presented a good buying opportunity at relatively low risk.

Not sure what you are basing your statements on as research will show you that every year since 2015 the share price has at least once peaked higher than todays share price, even last year on 3 occassions it was higher than todays price so your inference of years of stagnation is not correct. What we,ve seen are years of lows and highs averaging between the 220p and 300p marks, but what we haven't seen is consistent steady growth YoY for EPS. My opinion is that it needs to convincingly break through the 300p barrier and stay there before we get excited about growth.

Looking at one year in isolation doesn't really mean anything when previous years have seen growth stagnate or even decline. We need a constant steady YoY growth of around 5% for the EPS and between 3-5% for the DPS, giving investors >15% annual return.

The amount of GDP spent is irrelevant, it is the ROI what matters (being a shareholder you should know that) and currently the ROI is totally negative. Ask yourself this: if it was listed on the LSE would you invest? Throwing money at the NHS has never worked it is an outdated system designed for a long gone era. Todays NHS is completely budget driven irrespective of life threatening conditions, ask anybody who works at the ground level in the NHS and they will tell you it is totally abused (especially A&E) and in an absolute shambles. and the only way to turn it around is complete reform with somekind of semi privatisation to stop people taking the easy free option.

So who should the people vote for because from where I'm standing every government in power for the last 40 years have been a disaster that's already happened, and the current Lab / Con crowd of MP's are no better or even worse. Maybe it's time for a complete change and give a different party a chance afterall it's only for 4 to 5 years

jotom, in all fairness you cannot blame farage for the shambles the conservative government made of the brexit deal with europe , and now starmers idiotic deal he's just made. farage was not in agreement to any of this and he even said the deal would be a disaster for the uk. so if you want to blame anyone for the 100 billion lost each year look at the last and current government.

Antelope if what you say is true (and I would find that astonishing) that they have nothing to say or don't know anymore than the humble shareholder then shareholders really are screwed. As for the lack of reponse to shareholders concerns just proves what they really think of the people who have funded this business and the company directors. There is no reason at all preventing them from issuing a quarterly update whether through a RNS or on their website.

Anyone with a semblance of intelligence can figure out what's going on here, stop trying to back a dead horse.
