Boychick whilst I do not hope for it to go sub 2 pounds the inexorable decline in aviva started long before coranavirus it was trading above 550pence in may 2018 and even last November was trading at 440pence a spectacular fall there are too many investors in aviva who think everything is rosy in the garden

Oxygen I would not put it past them to not pay anything in 2020 and rebase the dividend in 2021 maybe 10pence a share depending on the results for 2020

You can bet your bottom dollar they will it is absolutely laughable when they said we recognise the importance of dividend payments to our shareholders while at the same time they cancelled the final dividend for 2019 and interim dividend for 2020 saying they will reconsider dividend payments in the fourth quarter of 2020

You just have to look at the share price performance over 3 months 6 months 1 year 2 years 3 years 5 years absolutely shocking at these low levels I have to admit it looks a good buy at current prices even tulloch and montague cannot destroy shareholder value anymore than this but no consolation to holders like myself who went all in at the peak valuations of over 5 pounds a share just under 2 years ago

Terrible week for aviva down 20pence on the week on a already depressed share price having to make do with a 3 pence rise today is laughable

Big mark I agree with you it hurts sentiment and erodes trust in the management which was not high to start off with you just have to look at the share price performance today on a fantastic day for the ftse it is up only 3 per cent as opposed to the rise of legal and general and prudential who are up about 6 per cent still about 17 pence down on the week and looking like it will stay around this level or go down further next week commendable for the charitable donation of 10 million to the Red cross and 5 million to the NHS the shareholders as stakeholders in this underperforming company have been given little thought in these uncertain times

The final dividend of 21.4 p which was due to be paid in June 2nd 2020 was for the year ended 2019 when aviva posted record profits coronavirus did not affect the profits for 2019 so why did they cancel the dividend I understand coronavirus going forward will affect profits year ending 2020 and 2021 willing to accept a reduced dividend for these years which is reflected in the share price which has been derated but the final dividend should not have been cancelled

The directors of aviva have cancelled final and interim dividend causing hardship to many shareholders some of whom have had to sell some shares at a depressed share price to raise income why do not the directors show some solidarity and announce a 20 per cent pay cut for this year like some directors of other ftse 100 companies

Caddy the problem with Aviva is there is no way of knowing what dividend if any they will pay this year also there is a general mistrust of the management by small investors and big investors alike when they do start paying dividends again they will rebase the dividend so very hard to value Aviva at this stage

It is a good buying price for new buyers I agree but I am a long term holder bought at the peak just under 2 years ago when it was trading at around 550p and went all in a drop of more than 3 pounds a share

I cannot see them giving it tulloch and Montague do not have any balls unlike nigel wilson

Silence is deafening from the bod at aviva why did legal and general announce before aviva that they are paying the dividend still have doubts that they will pay even if they decide to pay will probably get a small rise only for it to disappear going into the afternoon followed by another usual big fall the next day

The problem is the management of legal and general is far better than that of aviva us shareholders are lions led by donkeys

The joke is the management of aviva especially tulloch not releasing statement confirming the payment of the dividend and the financial strength of the company

I hate to think how far Aviva will fall when the ftse has a really bad day

The ftse is down less than one per cent Aviva is down six per cent and still falling

It is very rare to see a decent rise in aviva these days down 27p on Wednesday down 16p today on top of the substantial share price falls in the last 4 weeks hard to see these big falls being reversed in the next 12 months more likely more big falls

Dividend yield thirteen per cent share price down thirteen per cent in a week down over fourty per cent in a year

Well Aviva is down more than the dividend amount of 21p per share down 35p on the week from 270p on Monday to 235p today
