I would suggest that Amaja’s credentials were reinforced by the fact that AS mentioned the clever chap who phoned Vopak. We all know who he was talking about.
Amaja’s post 22nd July:
My sources in the Rotterdam harbour tell me that she carries 56.000 tons of crude oil which is the equivalent of 455.000 bbls. I got this info from a very reliable source and crossed checked the information with a second person in the right position.
This time, I will not divulge my (external) source as I have the feeling that someone is trying to put a lid on it. However, the wheelings and dealings in the Rotterdam harbour are far away from Surrey, let alone Aberdeen.
Perhaps Hurricane will corroberate the info at some stage, but probably not before months to come.”
Who do we think might be trying to put a lid on it?
Amaja gave the tonnage figure (56,000) from his sources and a conversion of weight to barrels which I believe is wrong hence my figure of 413.6K. Accurate conversion requires knowledge of the density factor however my estimate of 413.6 is calculated on the tonnage Amaja reported for the first offload (47,389) and confirmation of the volume of that load (350K barrels)by AS and the not unreasonable assumption that the density is the same for both loads.
If as has been suggested this next offload is 450K barrels the necessary average flow rate to achieve this would have to be over 16K barrels per day, only 1K short of the target rate at the end of six months production. In the CMD RNS HUR said ” A cautious approach will therefore be taken to manage increases in flowrates between the two wells, with careful reference needing to be made to the combined rate.”
So have they thrown caution to the wind?
