Motley Fool suggest that investors are avoiding NWG due to BOD alienating customers and investors by trying to score political points ! Author of article explicitly states he would not buy NWG for this reason. Think that hits hammer squarely on the thumb ...
Sad
Mcap 11.1 + net debt 18.9 = Enterprise value of 31bill.
Interest rates high but rises beginning to plateau.
Divi covered by earnings 2.5 times, expected to be held at this level for next 2 years. PE 5.8
IMO agree with Berenberg, target £1.50
FDA now officially investigating debanking, IMO big fine likely. Will probably take years with reputational damage to boot. Politics, causes, stance and behaviours have already alienated swathes of customers and seriously damaged the NWG brand. Time for a new broom and rebrand.
More bad press but this was Announced weeks ago...
Farage now gnawing at NWG granting themselves right to limit cash deposits and withdrawals fuelling warnings that banks are forcing customers towards a “cashless society”.
Farage said it was “deeply worrying that banks are now granting themselves sweeping powers to limit their customers’ use of cash”.
“The wider de-banking scandal I have uncovered has already demonstrated that banks cannot be trusted to wield such power responsibly, given the way they have closed people’s accounts purely because of the political views they hold."
“There will now naturally be fears that customers who fall foul of the corporate thought police could see their access to cash cut off. Jeremy Hunt must act swiftly to make sure that this cannot happen and that legal tender remains legal tender."
Green credentials, greenwash or parallel universe ? Impressive if they pull it off ...
BP considering building two huge offshore wind farms in British waters without government subsidy in what would be a first for the sector. Work could start in Irish Sea as soon as "late next year". 214 turbines to power 3.4 million homes.
The future, greenwash or pie in the sky ? Juries out ...
AAL has identified top locations for hydrogen development in Chile and Peru, which could generate thousands of jobs. Study carried out in collaboration with the Hydrogen Technologies Unit of the Catholic University of Chile.
“Its findings suggest that the development of a green hydrogen valley or H2V in eight areas in the central zone of Chile could result in an initial investment of at least $3.5 billion and generate 10000 jobs.
“The study also estimated that the introduction of green hydrogen on a large scale in the central zone would displace around 3 000 kilotons of CO2 per year, equivalent to taking 850000 cars out of circulation,” it said.
Chile AAL corporate affairs and sustainability vice-president Juan Pablo Schaeffer said: “Green hydrogen will play an important role in helping us to decarbonise Chile".
Interesting article, but In effect, the mosquitos would need to be inoculated with the bacteria which then makes their bite harmless to humans. IMO just eradicate the mosquitos in the first place.
Farage NWG SAR is being delayed from usual month till Oct 21 or thereabouts. What are they so desperate to hide now ? he asks. What indeed could delay such a simple request ? NWG explanation is that it is complex ! So saga will drag on for weeks instead of being promptly laid to bed. IMO length of delay is directly proportional to the speed of the shredding machine ...
Joined at the hip ! Two months before Sunak opened hundreds of new licences for North Sea exploration, the IT firm Infosys (founded by his father-in-law and where his wife Akshata Murty has £400m stake) signed a $1.5 billion deal with BP.
Rishi thinks this matter is of no legitimate public interest ...
Yup, Farage is going for redress in a very public way - see Daily Mail. Sounds like NWG may need to pay him (and potentially thousands of others?) considerable redress for having accounts closed. That's quite apart from possible fines from FCA and ICO. IMO time for a new broom and comprehensive rebrand to leave this sad episode and sour political aftertaste behind.
