Ominous that gov did not wait 2 more days and pocket the 3p div. Why would they do that if a disparately large xd sp fall was not forecast ? IMO we have been given a heads up from the gov no less to exit NWG pronto and buy back after xd dust settles ...
The UK government cut its stake in NatWest to 59.8% from 61.7%.
Off-market purchase of 590.7 million shares from UK Gov Investments at Thursday's closing market price of 190.50 pence per share, worth GBP1.12 billion. The UK government stake now 59.8% from 61.7%. IMO gov sold too low ...
Just when you thought there were no more skeletons in cupboard :
1) Maximum penalty is an unlimited fine.
2) £1.2billion penalties imposed on HSBC by the US in 2012 over the laundering of drug money through its Mexican branches.
3) Could postpone the return of all the shares to the stock market.
Chart trajectory rebased down.
Perhaps we can ask the guy who deposited 284 million in cash to buy a few shares to help the sp recover?
jd - had not thought of that ! Must congratulate the FCA (first for me) on having the foresight to secure a budget increase by fining UK gov via NWG !
First bank prosecuted by FCA for money laundering. Fine, literally.
Annouced 330mil eu investment in Wavre, Belgium, GSKs largest vaccine production facility, which produces the CureVac coronavirus vaccine that is in the final stages of testing. Expects 100 million doses to be scheduled for production.
Rising gov bond yields have fuelled nice rise straight through trading resistance levels at 188.20 then 189.50 making it a good end to week. Next resistance levels are 192.39 and 198.19, which with dividend (xd 25/3) and EOY ISA buyers active, IMO, will shortly be in rear view mirror ...
U.K. gov said Wednesday it intends to sell its entire stake in NWG subject to market conditions and achieving value for money for taxpayers with sale to be completed between 2025 and 2026. Even later than previously thought. Sp seems to like this ...
According to broken concensus of firms covering GSK, as per Pokerchip's link, dividends for this and next 3 years are : 80.0 (unchanged), 77.5, 77.4, 78.3.
Separately :
Vampire Squid have cut GSK to just, only, a mere 1,820 (2,010) - 'BUY'
LBBW (who the hell are they?) cut target to 1,400 (1,600) - 'BUY'
In light of above, IMO current sp of 1200 looks too good to be true ... 50% upside to Goldman target.
Article from Sky claims NWG gov share sale completion to be delayed beyond target end date 2025 by 2 years due to Corona. Details in next budget. IMO cannot see the point of any delay.
Aic - IMO RNO has managed to pay down debt at a remarkable rate throughout pandemic, and at this rate, will surely deal with pension deficit within next few years.
Resistance 1 & 2 smashed. Looking very good indeed.
On news today, mentioned something not heard of for over a decade - a forecast of steadily rising inflation and possible increase in interest rates !? The NWG NIM is compressed by low interest rates, so providing the inflation forecast is more accurate than the weather forecast, fat chance but possible, this could be good news.
To lose one CFO may be regarded as a misfortune, but to lose 2 in less than 2 months looks like ? Why did Mitch leave, anyone ?
