There are so many FTSE100 companies whose divi's are up above 6% at the moment you can pick them with your eyes closed.

Its dull, but in the event of the meteor strike on the mine it does mean you're not completely wiped out.

I did have far too high a percentage of my portfolio in SXX.

But then i got to the amount i wanted to hold, and have started adding elsewhere. Now down to 45%

I use a different strategy.

I do my research and set myself a maximum price that i'm willing to pay for a first investment in a share. (For TW that was 165p. Due to pension contribution timings I actually got in at 136p)

When i'm in my accumulation phase i'll set myself a maximum average price that i won't continue to add above. (Currently set at 160p)

When i'm happy with my holding if its a divi share i tend to re-research approx every 3 months in detail but will generally hold and reinvest profits if i'm still below my max average price set above. If its a share i'm looking for capital gains i'll set myself 5 thresholds where i'll sell 20% at each

I have had TW on my watchlist with a buy price cap at 165 for a while, and 136 seemed too good to be true so i piled in,

The divi is crazy good, especially as it was reiterated in the last set of results.

Trouble is for me its short term gain, with an impact on longer term gain.

I've only recently bought back in at 136, so buying more will bring my average up drastically. I had wanted to at least treble the number i'm holding so the rise stings a little bit

Could quite easily have got the info a few days back and booked the podcast knowing that it'd take a day or two to prepare the RNS

I think we may see sub 150p but don't see it going much lower than that on her deal not being approved, unless something unexpected happens tomorrow.

FFC - Even good updates have had that drop though in the past.

Seems the buy on rumour, sell on news brigade still like this share for quarterly updates

OR / FFC - Given that a quarterly update generally arrives with approx 5% drop on the day I'm quite happy its not here

It is still a good buy Johnson. Its still way below my max buy price.

However as i was after the max possible dividend i wanted a greater number of shares.

If we don't it'll be down to one person, and one person only.
