Thanks mate. I’m sure that it is being used to tidy up the balance sheet but some of those write downs will almost certainly result from the break up. If one speculates that £400m,say, are non break up write downs. Ca. £2b is still an incredible number to me. One would hope that it would lead to ongoing significant savings.

The CEO gets an incredibly easy ride from the investment press for what has been a deeply unimpressive performance. I’m not sure why and am not going into any personal stuff. Indeed the record for nearly 20 years has been poor bar the dividend. I am a long term investor who will stay mainly because of the break up which should lead to value recognition. I note someone above said that the break up costs were a few hundred million. I don’t know if there has been an update, if so good, but the original estimates were an almost unbelievable ca £2.4b!

Haha. I’d love to live in SAK’s world. Have you actually looked at AZN’s share price over the last number of years? Emma seems a nice person but I’m beginning to think she is out of her depth on the management of this very poorly performing company. Nice divi but pity about the growth. Is she the right person to oversee the what needs to be done here?

I’m a long term small investor with my past career in this industry. Tullow needs to concentrate on production (& further development) in the future. It needs to be a production firm with some exploration potential. The latter needs to be strictly controlled and this discipline applied over all the company’s activities. The model could be the BG Group of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I note there are 1 or 2 old BG staff in senior management. The debt and costs must be tightly controlled and likewise exploration adventures. BG of that vintage was growing strongly and had good procedures in place but was still flexible. Also was very very good on the message inside and outside the company. For a quite a long run of those years, it delivered on its stated targets which were very carefully considered and communicated. Of course, the wheels came off a few years before the Shell takeover but it was an incredible run.

However my heart sunk as the presentation went on. The personal appliance looked like something from a Clive Sinclair mid 80’ commercial. The whole think looked rushed and there was no/little mention of the other more near term and easier applications e.g. waste water testing. I am going to hold and see what happens here. I do see that the explained process could be picked up by major businesses, hospitals, cruise ships and even governments for key workers or those at risk. But there are a lot of moving parts required. Shame I felt very slightly rich yesterday morning.

Gerard has come back to me on Twitter and says the RNS should be read in conjunction with the 2019 Annual Report. Also the results only cover a few months since the new Board and strategy, which we know. I will have a proper look at the AR.

I’ve asked the above, via Twitter, to make a proper commentary on these results. He is usually very forthcoming, let’s see if anything happens.

Yes if I was Shell would be prepared to take out for anything up to ca 5/6p Based on my calcs, back of pocket not going to show cos took me 10 mins. But for giant companies this is very very small beer. Will depend on the enthusiasm of the core team and how well their manager is plugged into the decision process.

Been in since 2013, average about 2.4.p. Small amount in overall terms but significant to me. Don’t blame the potential suitor, given the company’s position, current price is low low. We all know the reasons. My hope is others will come in cos I reckon their initial offer may be ca 3.00. I was big into Amerisur recently, closely into info etc. I worked in E&P for over 30 years, economist/planner not technical. They were 35p when I bought in 2013 went down to ca. 12p last year. Recovered to Range Ca. 16 to 21p at the start of the year before the bid. This was a producing company with excellent transportation facilities and exploration prospects. It was hit by a deterioration in Columbian political situation and a few poorish exploration results. My point is that it was sold for just over 19p, ca 30% from the prevailing price before the bid. And this is what the suitor will try, I think. Ridiculous really. However I had to laugh, of course, the world went into free fall after the purchase. Still a good Long term asset. Yes did make a profit but only 6/7% on a lot of investment, for me. Fingers crossed here.

Haha. Only this f*ing share could pick this day to publish this great news. I guess is an opportunity to pick up some more. Will lol tomorrow but how next can this be b*ggered. I suppose a low rent takeover.

I hope is significant but I have noticed them coming in at similar stage in other sales. They get a guaranteed few % monies in a couple of months, benefit from any increase and, of course, have a small risk of of it all falling through. I remember they did same for Monetise.

Glad I was in bed. Blimey that was like a punch in the gut. I will make a v small profit after much averaging down from 33/35p. I’d have to look to see what was my original price. Don’t know where to begin but all has been said really - BOD, ONGC etc etc.

Not sure many people here know anything about statistics. Some of comments over last few days might right but are not based on the very very limited presented dataset. Anyway given this still looks very very encouraging, in my view.
