RE: Discussion on Drill Progression22 Jul 2021 11:35
i am starting to appreciate the fact posters / investors who have never drilled are feeling a bit worried - is there another drill issue? what's happening.? etc... then you have a poster saying its rare to see drill pipe break - yes, North Sea folks, GoM, Siberia to name a few - might not see that a lot since there is a lot of holes drilled therefore "well control" is good - eg you can estimate better whats down there therefore plan better.
Here, in Rukwa, the number of historical wells drilled is very very low and these happened a long time ago. Add to that we only have 2D seismic at the moment therefore in combination, very little information can be gained on what's "underground" - what will they hit when they drill so expect surprises. very little well control. there will be surprises like any new basin will little data. Holbrook is not far off (DME's) although a bit more holes drilled there historically so better well control / data at hand from tying wells to seismic data.
Look, simpler job like light workover can get delayed by weeks even here in the North Sea but its ok so long as there is solid contingency planning to address issues. the drill bit will get to TD without a doubt and if there is a discovery, wireline will be run (single run? double run? I dont know since no programs shared) then a few days to churn the data and analysed it before announcing.
its nothing to do with Mitchell being numpties of HE1 geo's being not that great. they've got track record. Its what you can know and what you have to address as and when it comes, all limited by data at hand.
