Hey sain. When you say tinker around (sun -1941), is that Andrew Tinker? I guess that is what will happen, lucrative assets will be sold off to people in the know - and I wonder who that could be? Good 11-22 post- we need a good laugh with the share price on a downward path. I thought Stubbys were selling the horses to one of the Cyprus banks to get Russian money to support the Snowdon airport development. Of course DYOR
Thanks for the view, interesting about the 'funds' I hadn't been aware of that aspect. I guess they would have held JPR in the past, so a return would be of no surprise. Always interesting to see how markets and individual shares move / rise on expectation and fall on detail (bad or good). No takeover yet then! Digital platforms are certainly the way ahead for JPR. Good luck with this one. Still a good buy if you see 40p
Up 20% do we know the details behind this mega rise? I think it is indicative of future prospects but why now? Is there talk of a takeover? I could see why as they have stolen a march on the opposition and their knowledge of advertising IT platforms would be quite valuable.
BOD under the leadership of A H are essentially building a new company, with one of the main areas of development being the on line work. Looking at other publishers I think JPR have made more progress than most / all of the others and when the benefits of this technology show through that is when the bottom line will make the most progress. No share drop (yet!) so does that mean the BOD have been given the benefit of any doubt until the next set of results??? Loss of printing contract from the Times will be one reason for the profit drop. What has happened to debt - does anyone have that info please.
Thanks for the update reminder. Lets hope for good results and especially info. re. future prospects. Europe news will be interesting to hear about, all public transport should have passenger, driver/vehicle/ fuel efficiency and traffic monitoring. I wonder who could provide that!!
Forgot to say - interesting response from the USA markets to the proposed spending cuts Obama signed off on Saturday . I thought Mon was going to be a blood bath , but look at it now!! Just too much for my little brain to understand, the reasons for the direction of markets and their response to info!! I think that is why I only trade shares and don't try to trade futures. I guess I would write down the reasons for doing the trade, make a decision and the do the opposite!!! Boy would I make money. LOL (Spring has sprung in the UK today!!)
All the little nuggets help with research., Bids all cost time and money to set up and Banco Catalunya will have massive issues - that is why it went bust and was nationalised!! This outcome is no great loss for either of the bidders. It is not going to be quick to get the BNC share price back to top dollar but it is a good company with very good longer term prospects. My divi reinvestment plan works well for me ( although not a big holder of the stock). Good luck with this one. My gamble on Wed maybe to sell AV (prior to results on Thursday!) and either invest here or hold for a lower AV price!
How do you see last nights (Friday) news from the USA affecting Europe / BNC next week. Obama seems to have failed in his pre-election plans to prevent spending cuts etc. I don't know if the announcement was made after the Dow closed - but I assume they had. It looks as if AV. is holding at current levels pre results, so that is quite positive.
Yes, I have had the option in the past to buy shares via Santander on a regular basis, you don,t get a choice of share price but I don't think I have been diddled by much when I have subscribed and bought shares by that system. You do pay quite a bit earlier as you send a cheque a couple of weeks before the date to 'Equiniti' (in my case) and they do the rest. I am with idealing and don't hold BNC with them but I suspect you could trade at better prices if you traded with your on line account. Buying small numbers use Equiniti, for larger purchases with added flexibility use your on line account - IMO
Just read the article written by Henry Stewart - rubbish - the bloke is making up rubbish from the comfort of his arm chair. No real research and no real facts - just innuendo. Hackney schools may dump RM, always easy to be critical of systems that you don't understand, the main problem was always the disconnect between teachers and IT. IT moved a lot faster than teachers and teachers wouldn't give the time to catch up. Many teachers thought accessing social communication sites was the cutting edge of IT! RM were banging their heads against the proverbial from about 1998 which they did their best to overcome. They had a very clever business liaison strategy which supported their bottom line for many years. Schools wanted to cherry pick aspects of the RM stable without taking on board the main student link aspects from the company. This was money that schools thought could be saved by expecting teachers to produce acceptable lesson delivery using IT. Whoops - that was the weak link, middle aged heads without an acceptable understanding of what was being used in their school and teachers therefore not being kept up to speed with acceptable lesson delivery. RM had many options for this - at a price, but the purse string holders would not go that extra yard, saying their staff could / should do that! Whoops back to the weak link again. Employ RM and improve lesson delivery it was possible. I have often been critical of RM but not their enthusiasm for subject support. I am not a shareholder but have observed RM first hand very closely and seen the work they have put into trying to support the education of young people, they really wanted the best for the pupils but couldn't force their model to be imposed - of course, it was up to the customer. So Mr Stewart lets have better and proper research next time or at least acceptable recording of the research and not just an unacceptable spin. DEBS 1
Yes I agree the video is a good find. I think that Teg is a good investment but not in the short term. Buy cheap - put them away and it will come good in 3 years and after that should reward on a regular basis with good income and one would hope capital growth should follow. The city wants 'instant' so they are not interested yet - when they do react it will of course fly. I think P/I's like myself have to be in early as I can't react as quick as the institutions. That is why I think having to get in early means it is possible to pick some of the duds - ie companies that don't always have the clout / capital/ access to funds to take a good project to profit or conclusion.
Whoops - I mean Thanks
Thanks 'dealerdan' for the info you posted - great help. 28p would be great. What were the positives from techinvest re C21 - was there anything new to you re the company analysis?? Out of interest what were the other 5 naps from Techinvest, have you had chance to research any of them? Good Luck (I assume you are a holder as well?) DEBS 1
Well that was an interesting day for share trades in C21. Where are we going from now on. Does anyone have some information to satisfy my curiosity. Does Mr Lillihamer still have an interest? When are the next company updates due?
4% up on Friday - good to see the large purchases as well. Must be trusts rather than P/I's, so good marker for the rest of us and this on no company updates or presentations that I can find., Still good value for the year end rise and the 2013 bull run!!! (is this the first time you have heard of this!!) DYOR and continued good luck. DEBs1
Kcom appears to have found its new trading level and must be fair value at these levels and an opportunity to top up?. 1. Good return from dividends and 2. the chance of more upside with little risk now of massive downside movements as divi underpins the price at this level. 3. Always the chance of a strategic split and takeover for the parts by other telco's - longer term view only?? Good luck with KCOM.
Well done riddler, can you ask the amount of electricity the plants are producing from present ops., ask what new processes are being developed and any snags with present processes (ask if Pennon are going to make an offer for the company!!!!there is no need to ask about the financial stuff as I doubt / know they will not give you new info they will just say that will be in the annual report. Good luck - we all need it!
Hi Rags, sounds like the wedding was this w/e, seems like you are still celebrating - good for you!! Hope it went well and all the efforts were appreciated, as well as the lace - I hope it was best Nottingham lace. (I was brought up there years ago - so I know good lace when I see it!). Normally the threat of having the family jewels in a jar on the mantle piece is enough to keep them in line and behaving well!! Lets hope KCOM can do us all a good turn with their next statement in a few days time. Good dividend in the future as well to replenish the wedding coffers.Good luck. - DEBS1
Hi is there any news of how the EU meeting went last week. It seems very quiet for another one of those 'very important meetings which are going to change the EU forever' . With BNC down a little today I assume there is no major positive news or any sensible decisions. I can't believe so many bureaucrats can take so much time to come with so few decisions. I have never been a believer in too much centralisation but this is just crazy. Perhaps just a time to watch and wait before we are all hung out to dry!! - again. The basics of BNC are fine - the meddling of left wing politicians who are jealous of wealth, but want the trappings of it, is beyond belief. I guess J53 is about right re. timing ie now is the time to watch and wait. GLA
I like your style! What did you base your investment decision on, to go in that big? I have purchased a couple of relatively small tranches of these but hold 20% of your total. I like the company and of course the recent price increase. Not sure where it is going now and more importantly why! Any news / hunches would help.
