Good that you got there in the end parkez. Probably the decision was made at least 2-3 months before the announcement so that CGNR could engage with Demir for a coordinated replacement of the deal.
Personally I believe AAZ backed out for technical reasons but it could have been something else - it was the middle of a pandemic.

How does that quote suggest I am wrong? It's ancient history but AAZ walked. The quote is carefully worded.

PaulFG. I suggest you reconsider this notion that AAZ were gazumped by Demir. Any option agreement would include an exclusivity clause, to protect the incoming party (AAZ) who would be spending money on due diligence from being gazumped. CGNR opening talks with Demir could only have been done with AAZ's blessing and the whole thing was rather obviously choreographed to replace one deal with another, let AAZ back out and protect CGNR and its shareholders. Only a few people who post on this board believe otherwise.

Great Troajan so why has the value of the company gone down on the inclusion of such a great JV partner? The projects haven't delivered.

Cathal Jones - already involved as a director of subsidiaries, same family name as the MD although I don't know if there is a connection.
In any case, these "consultants" are people already well connected to the business and so nothing new here.
If there were some credible geology and engineering consultant appointments, you might take confidence.

There's not enough resource to start a mine, stepout drilling was unsuccessful so they need to revert to an exploration approach. Hence why the market cap is where it is - JV has not delivered so far.

Long on speculation, short on results. No value added for shareholders by the JV. Business as usual.

The problem is Clontibret is not enough on its own. If it was, it would have been developed the first time it was "in development", 10 years ago. The stepout drilling last year was unsuccessful. For a refractory gold BIOX operation they need a bigger resource and better grades. That's why the emphasis is now on exploration and the valuation is down 30% on the financial value of the JV.

A few over here, a few over there, a couple where there is not even any ore..... Maybe 7. Great stuff guys, keep it coming, this part of Ireland is going to look wonderful after all the ****nic mining you guys have in mind.

Only a multi metre high grade intersection will move the dial here. These low grade stockwork intervals are sub economic. 5m @ 10 g/t would see the share price double, but they don't seem to be in that kind of stuff and the market value of Conroy is 25% below the financial value of the JV meaning the JV so far has eroded value rather than add any.

Interesting but no true width reported and if this is refractory ****nopyrite like Clontibret the grade will need to improve a lot. Some maps would be very useful, impossible to figure out what's where otherwise and as usual it feels like obfuscation - focus on soundbytes rather than give investors the info needed to form a view.

So the "JV's primary aim" has now shifted to "bringing in a gold mine at Clontibret, or elsewhere".
