From yesterday's RNS, an interesting snippet - not sure if it is just words and cannot at this moment see how they think they can engage with us (and other potential investors!?). I guess JW is saying that they need to improve upon communications.

"We at Trakm8 are delighted to be appointing Allenby as our Nomad and Broker. Although the change was precipitated by the loss of the Nomad status by Arden, we have taken this opportunity to change our Broker too so that we may re-invigorate our engagement with shareholders and other potential investors."

I guess the Calor news highlights something about the nature of these types of contract and why they typically get renewed. i.e. if there is heavy integration between the two companies then it is hard to move away. This also extends to users of said system, resentment in changing to a new system and training costs. Of course no contract is guaranteed.....

Yes strong pick up in insurance, although I thought they downplayed it with talk of existing clients reverting to normal levels of business. So in some way this could be a powder keg of business. I guess this all depends on how reliable the products are. Do they accurately capture the needs of the industry and what are the competition doing. I hope Trak is good all around and can win the business as the industry adopts usage based insurance.

Agreed about the debt, but this may be a cyclic thing where Sept will have more.

The one that puzzles me is

"There are a number of Fleet deployment contract renewals during 2022 which are important to the outcome for the year and the timing of which will lead to Group revenue being second half weighted."

What are they really saying here? If all contracts are renewed then why is the revenue weighted to the second half (renewal bonus?) . If they are not renewed then the second half may look like the first half - so what am I missing?

Well that was disappointing......especially the outlook and significant contract renewals in the year. Overall, it does seem quite honest if you ask me.

Some small changes between the shares held in Oct to now. Hedges has reduced by circa 125,000 and Edric has increased by 30,000.

I posted positive comments from one of the sales people about a strong order book a while ago, so I think the TU will reflect it, both at the tail end of the year and the outlook. We'll find out in less than 3 weeks. My money is on a reverse of fortunes positive update. SAAS are reporting something next week, so that may further show the state of the market after Quartix's strong update.

Still a little concerned with the number of jobs available - that old staff turnover vs growth argument (yes, they are suggesting the latter)

That's less than Arden's conservative target price and not what their forward looking stuff suggests long term. I would have thought a multiple of renewals would be a better indicator - 3x circa £9m renewals and double for 6x - so I would hope it would be somewhere between £27m and £54m. So perhaps an offer at the low end may be accepted because of the debt i.e. you may be right.

That said, no sniff of news that would suggest anybody is looking. Although, I am still confused by the lack of TU and three recent RNSs - so perhaps something is going on - although, if history is to go by, nothing is going on.

I can't recall a scenario like this with Trak before, it seems like an attention grab to me - do they really highligh material differences, given that two of them are renewals and what have they delivered to date?

Not sure I understand the point about JW junior, is he going to take over? Also, what are you thinking when you refer to game changing wealth and what time horizon - put another way, do you think they believe they have averted disasted and good times are coming soon.

As for the re-rating, I think how they are coping paying off the debt will be key. Seems like a fine balancing act to me.

Yeah, this is what I am thinking - hopefully trak are in the right space and the right time and all that R&D pays off

One thing for sure is it sets the trading environment so they can be compared relative to each other. i.e. Trakm8 need to match this or they are going backwards.

I can't believe they would do a horror show TU when they could have attached it to contract wins/renewals to soften the blow. I think we'll be alright. Do you have a view of why they did not post the TU at the same time as one of these wins?

Ha Ha, yes, it is quite possible that one of us will be turning the lights off. I think the usual suspects are still around (but may have reduced). They may have better investments they are looking at. As a rose-tinted bull, I am hoping Trak has turned the corner (and learnt from their near death experience) and this will attract fresh blood - time will tell.

Still feels odd to me that they would put out news without a TU, especially, as you say we are near the end of the period so the facts are more certain. For all the reasons possible, it is probably not worth worrying about or getting one's hopes up. They do appear to have gone from an RNS a minute to nothing. I prefer it this way, as I felt they were too focused on getting RNS's out without considering the true cost.

No TU with this. I guess there are a couple of reasons for this e.g. i) new FD doesn't want to do an update ii) the update may not be great (although, given the share slip it is probably already factored in) iii) perhaps they are working on another RNS which will include the TU (my preferred and rose tinted glasses option)
