Pnn core business operationally is balanced on a knife edge, poorly paid poorly motivated and too few operational staff in both water and sewerage, most o f the works built around year 2000 are falling to bits with zero maintenance, management penny pinching is legendary, they may look an attractive takeover prospect but if that ever happended the buyer would need to find a fortune to rebuild. Virador is in much much better shape however. All of course imho.

Holding in 2/3rds of the uk water industry and have worked in it for 30 years, the drop in price recently has been pretty staggering. The biggest cause in my eyes is the political issues over Corbyn getting in if mrs m gets the chop. His ridiculus populist threats to renationalse the industry amongst others is depressing all utility prices at the moment. Nothing wrong with the industry or uu per se i dont think.

Do the same now and reduce by half if they get back to �13. When they were at a�13.5 last time i hung on looking for �14 as things looked rosy but it just doesnt seem to be happening, so enoughs enough want to use the money more productively. The rest can wait till nearer divi day when the plan is to sell before ex divi date to limit the tax i'll be paying to mr 'take no risks just take your money' taxman.

Interesting article on LSE news (unable to link, sorry crapgy ipad) about Ryanscare. Seems they've had a bit of a change of heart about pilots, employing approx 500 directly on rya contracts, and have managed to recruit 1040 new pilots this year. Amount of pilots per plane is now 11 instead of 10.5, so critical mass should now be more obliging for them. On a fun note, i had to go and meet a customer on Thursday for the day job, his name was Micheal o'leary, i kid you not. Not the real one though, he was a decent guy, I did have a chuckle though when i got back in my van.

Cheers Royc. I dont tend to hold a lot of faith in broker targets personally, always seem different opinions from each broker when compared to the next. Svt is a good solid well run business, worked there for a couple of decades, and have held my shares for just as long, just seemed a big lift for the one day. Mates still working there not to sure why either. Anyways its all good and like you am looking forward to getting back to the �25 area. :)

On the reasons behind the 40p lift in the opening price from Fridays close price today? Seems quite a big jump up to me with no obvious reason.

But issuing those additional shares costs double the dividend from the next payment date forever forwards. I hold a substantial holding of these and i would love the scrip dividend to be stopped. Best thing to do with spare cash is either up the dividend and increase the desire for the shares so growing the price, or a buyback, effectively doing the same by reducing the quantity in issue.

To pull out and get that profit banked sage. U kight be back in sooner than later.

To a beer on the poolside here after a walk round earlier, its very apparant that the Eu need to open their eyes to the bigger picture with their stance on scr@wing the Uk. I recon 30-40% of all voices i've heard today were British, now consider no 'open skys' and a punitive regeime towards us, the tourist industry here in the Canaries is going to take a knock which will have an effect on visitors and property buyers, the same as it will in the other tourist hotspots popular with Brits, like France, portugal. If i had to pay hundreds more to visit i simply wont, im British and i like a bargain like most of us no bargain = no deal. Its half term for Uk schools and i have to say where i am is unusually quiet, i dont think a large reduction in clientel would be welcome news for these countries tourism industries and i beleive their respective governments know this, they dont want another property crash or declining tourist income. Push comes to shove any deal has to work for both parties, my prediction is that not a lot will change and us Brits will just get to see a more interested/awake Spanish customs officer on our future visits. 30c here today, will try and sneak a bit back to rainy Cornwall, keep that price rising guys. gla
