RE: Ryan Air to get sued - big time!24 May 2021 18:10
One thing you have right doomster is the need for the EU to do something about the now routing of flights over Belarus. There was no indications this was a troublesome issue previously, but it is clearly now and needs strong action by the EU etc.
For clarity, RYA were/are not the only airline flying over this previously safe territory, many other flights can be seen on flightracker et al, so it is not a RYA issue specifically, they were simply the unlucky airline, targetted thanks to one of their passengers being wanted for silencing by a despot dictator.
The KGB comment is interesting. News, and i beleive Mikey, are reporting the possability of KGB agents based solely on the number of people who boarded the flight and how many left once it was forced down. The number being five apparantly. There is no actual evidence. Nobody has confirmed that KGB were actually on board, but its odd that more than the intended target left the aircraft, so likely has some merit.
Like Fleccy, i think its unlikely anybody will, or even could, sue. This was a clear act of piracy at the point of a missile and the pilot/airline had no choice whatsoever but to comply. Bit of history in those parts with airliners being shot down by psychopaths, unfortunately.
