The obvious answer even before looking at fuel cells is to combine EV charger installations with battery and solar in order to reduce the peak load on the grid!

Many chargers are in car parks so what should be done is to roof over the parking bays with solar panels and install a good size of battery along with the chargers. Even in winter, this will give added benefit as the batteries can be charged overnight at a low rate.

I've seen this done at the York Hyper hubs but this seems to be a rare approach in the UK. In France, they are legislating to make this happen!
