Biggest headwinds moving forward?24 Mar 2021 10:24
All,
I'm already invested here across several accounts which equates to nearly my largest holding within the portfolio. But, i'm seriously considering increasing my position yet further as most of the bad news stories seem to be transferring into the rear view mirror.
There are many positive streams of information to support my decision to increase; like the turnaround plan being well on track (despite covid), the IT system migration nearing completion, high profile enterprise links, endorsements/incentives, plus the overall SP/valuation remaining attractive to possible TA activity too. Sure, the elephant in the room is maybe the high level of debt, but what a time to hold it in the current interest rate environment, not to mention the maturities being way out in 2024....
The use of software, cloud, security and optimisation of business data is surely only just beginning, is it not?
So, what do people see as the biggest headwinds to their research or, more simply put, to their gut instinct of Micro's outlook?
On another note - does anyone know anything about Iaas platforms, containerisation/Kubernetes etc? It's used in the deployment of applications which run across cloud platforms independently of operating systems. Apparently the future of cloud computing. The reason I ask, there was a crowd funding project very local to me for a Company who are using a K3's managed Kubernetes service which is streamlined to use less computing power and launches in under 2 mins (for ref Amazon, Google and Microsoft launch in 10-20mins and use up to 20% more computing power to do so). They have an ex-Google employee within the board.
I'm tempted to put this to investor relations at Micro to see whether they are developing anything like it or are indeed using it. Oracle, Walmart, IBM, Verizon and O2 are all Beta applicants so it appears the interest is there.
Personally, I don't understand it enough yet to say whether I think this crosses over into Micro's arena and whether it will be a potential disruptor down the line, but i'd be interested to know if anyone else does. In terms of disruption, i'm sure this would only affect very long term holders of Micro....
Constructive thoughts people?
