If shorts were closing, they'd be buying back the borrowed shares, in essence the share would rise, generally occurs off the books. If the shorts are increase, this would generate potentially a selling pint, also generally off the books

If the share dropped and oil was much lower I'd be concerned, Tullow oil is making big gains on the spot market. nothing to be concerned with, next week's announcement will be good. Sit tight!!

Just to mention, they don't "control the market both ways - up and down". They control the spread, the market is controlled by Investors buying and selling at the spread, i.e. supply and demand. GLA

Well yes and no, Brokers/MM, IB, Institutions do hold inventory but as you can see not a huge amount. These companies do loan out also, a primary source of income. The point is, they're not actively traded, hence illiquid. If you think like this there's very low activity in this share, out of lack of interest.

This share has 1.42B in issue, to even move it slightly, you'd need serious investor purchases. The basics of trading supply and demand. You won't see this in the short term. I do suspect there would be an interest in this company at some stage, as there will be some consolidation in this sector, with the transition to cleaner energy, and the lack of CAPEX for E&P, this is way undervalued. A suitor may come knocking. GLA

They're generally off the book transactions so there would be very little impact to be seen. As I've always said on this site, there's no decent volumes going through, not liquid enough for big rises. This will take time be patient, ignore the Naysayers, they have there own agenda.

I can understand how you feel but that ship has sailed. Selling one asset at discount as appose to a ship sinking, was preferred option at the time. Think of Kenya, Think of new frontiers, think of higher production rates from exiting core assets and new management. The stars are aligned, if you can't let go, it's just unhealthy!

Oh dear, Odey really know how to lose their cash. Here's a bit of INFO. They shorted Amc at 32 dollars, then it spiked to low 50, now roughly 36, when I say shorted, they ploughed a massive amount into it. I'm laughing hard now. GLA

It's either a shorter seeking to buy the shares back in order to close their position or someone loading up on shares. I'm not sure how you see this as being a institutional investor like samual off loading since its a positive transaction +33m. If you've been following tullow the past few years samual loaded up, prior to them being floored. I've always suspected he lent out his position to benefit from the demise, time will tell you won't need to wait for 5pm the spread tmr will be an indication, what's happening. They don't say it, since they've previously overstated in the past, hence the lack of confidence from the market. The results are very promising to say the least. Tullow oil is in a transitional phase now and self funded, companies generate debt to achieve profits/ This will get paid over time. It's hilarious to see comments here to emphasise the debt, when there's a plan in place to reduce. I suspect these shorter will be exiting now. Hate to get burnt by short a profitable company.

Does anyone know anything more on this, Simba expansion development in Gabon. Development of this low-risk, high-return project is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2021 with a positive impact on 2021/2022 production. Had we not fully exited Gabon?
