I think it’s a mixed bag
Ultimately moonpig think they will have £100m move revenue than pre-covid. Question is is that revenue coming from us or supermarkets or just a younger generation?
My view is it’s a younger generation so Card won’t see the biggest hit from this
I think a positive to note is that 37% of moonpig revenue comes from the app, up from 33% at ipo. While the revenue number is bigger I think any customers that aren’t app users are floaters and can be won by Card’s website
I think what moonpig has done well is the gift partnerships and premiumisation (as they coined it). The x-sell to gifts is very good but these gifts are third party so no reason why Card can’t do the same! Why would Lego not want to be part of our offering too?
Also I think the sell off today shows moonpig will have to keep big marketing spend
