@rag - agree I just think the point worth noting here is that boo were weeks a head (PLT range launched mid-dec and BOO on 29th Dec). If you have orders for Asos 4505 then that's great as they are a solid month behind. Hopefully by then our stuff is fully sold and theirs is sat on the shelf

We got some solid insta support on both ranges so looks like a great result here

Re Oasis, KM and WH I don't worry. I think most analysts have next to nothin in for these businesses so given i think KM has performed fantastically well all year and Jan's results cover up until Dec this shouldn't be a huge negative factor

I think Boo & PLT have nailed the third but very risky third lockdown by getting activewear out sooner (pre and over christmas) and the both seem to have sold like hot cakes

For me the second lockdown was great for us as high st shut around a time of year where people buy coats and comfies (even if they bought comfies in the summer people buy again for Christmas) and black friday. I was worried about lockdown 3 as if you jsut got comfies and then don't need dresses its an issue. But I think boo and PLT have been tactically great here with investment and push into activewear!

Hopefully no more lockdowns so we can get back to selling dresses in the summer

the issue the article is trying to say is that a restructuirng plan was drawn up but obvs covid has meant that plan has been harder to execute ie ESS was hoped to sell for £500m - £700m and we got £400m. The events business obvs won't find a buyer atm or is worth considerably less than would have been envisioned at the initial restructuring

Before tik tok boo was no1 at social media. Why is it unfathomable to think someone else might have beat us on one social media platform?

the boo board 100% thought they were doing the right thing for tik tok. They weren't half assing it for sure. We had "it's from boohoo baby" song created and had Will.I.am create one for PLT. We hired one of the world's most popular tik tokers to be the face of the campaign. All fantastic

However - end result? We got beat by a business that went for a grass roots strategy

- getting their stuff in a day or two?
- knowing who topshop are/ were?

In areas where we don't have delivery advantage it is social media that is our defensive moat. We made kids want PLT

So if we aren't winning at social media, price, quality or delivery that's a concern

Price - shein is probably cheaper
Quality - i like to think boo but can't say
Social media - insta probably boo (as a group) but not on tik tok and given these are the two most popular that's important
Delivery - faster in all our main markets but mainly as we are closer

Negative growth in Europe is an issue if it was a sign of one of the things above breaking

I agree with Select none of us here will ever move the share price! it's £4billion market cap (+ change now)

I just like sharing ideas but it would be helpful if some could at least every business has faults

@ableton your're right Shein don't do subscription delivery to the US so in that whole market the advantage of next day delivery and subscription doesn't exist for us. So when you say "my intention was to try & calm the nerves of other BB posters because clearly BOO have a delivery ADVANTAGE over Shein!" it appears that that is only true for 50% of our business

So actually delivery times and price are relevant. I'd actually mention that Shein does free delivery to the US on order size over $50. PLT do this occasionally but not always

I know this isn't a huge population but if you were a US kid looking for a blazer dress would you go for Shien or PLT? PLT is double the price including shipping. From Shein you can get the dress and a paid or shoes to go with for the same price

But doing this is obviously stupid

compare price?
compare spec?
compare mileage?
considered the finance arrangement?
considered when you'd actually get the car?
how did you choose that brand of car?

why do all those sound like reasonable things but it's almost impossible to comprehend that boo's customers aren't doing the same? When you're a low income earner and need a dress do you not think our customers consider price? when you need a dress now, do you not think they consider delivery time? and with no stores how do you think kids in the mid-states here about boo?

or when you bought your car did you just show up and take what you were given?

Atm would you rather own shares in Skoda or Tesla? Atm boo is a good investment as we are reasonably near the Tesla end but is it not prudent to keep asking yourself the questions the customers ask? If we aren't winning on any of the above is that not a concern?

I know you're been doing this since June but I'll be honest with you. Understanding if customers are or aren't buying a product might make you or save you a lot of cash

I mean the US is only our biggest growth market so it's worth the DYOR surely?

I never set out to be obsessed by Shein my point was that I pointed out a weakness in boo and everyone losses their stuff and lobs abuse or looks to discredit. So I have to back it up six different ways. No one even bothered to discuss topshop as they get so upset some dared to not think this company was perfect in every way. You’d think god himself birthed this company

Just launched today with Zara McDermott (1.5m IG followers) but PLT and Boo both launched pre-Christmas and PLT (Karrueche 9m IG followers) stuff looks to have been selling well with lots of lines and sizes sold out. Actually it's similar for boo with mainly old season left (the new season stuff is OFCL and the pics have the blue background)

Looks like a great triumph here for boo and hopefully it's a sting to missguided! I'll keep an eye on how many lines launch tomorrow and how many are still there in a week or so's time

This is why I think US distribution is the way forward as it's FAST fashion for a reason

@walkabout no ROE growth was negative Q2 2021 from Q1 2020. So that's a sign of recent growth trajectory. Month on month (more accurate of current trading appetite) sales are falling.

Seasonality? unlikely as all other markets saw growth in this comparable period and ROE saw growth in these respective quarters the year before

tik tok rubbish? Why isn't it instagram rubbish? We all bang on about how great boo is at social media. Why all of a sudden when theres a platform we are losing on it is just rubbish? We are an ONLINE business. Viewing social media platforms particularly on of the most popular with our target and future target audience as rubbish? you shouldn't be a holder here are you don't get the business model

How do we drive customers to the site? We don't have stores. We use social media!

Also if it was a pointless topic why did Carol Kane ta;lk about our tik tok campaigns during the last investor presentation? Why did boo pay to be the first fast fashion company to sponser tik tok and then shout about this as a huge sucess? It certainly seems boo don't view it as rubbish!
